Current Tecate border crossing status

thebajarunner - 6-11-2020 at 04:15 PM

Read somewhere here that Tecate northbound is closed to all regular traffic.
Just went to the highly unreliable BWT app and it shows open, but 60 minute wait.
Yesterday evening I also checked BWT, probably around 7 p.m.
and it showed the gate was closed.
My son is in Guadalupe this week, wondering if I need to give him a heads up on closures....
Then again, he is pretty savvy and probably has ways to check that and other local issues.

Tell him to cross at Otay Mesa with his Sentri pass.

Tecate closes at 2 pm during this virus event.

Very bright young man
Has his own packaging company in Santa Ana
Supports two orphanages in Guadalupe
and we are establishing a home to get boys out of orphanages and into an environment that will help them be a success when they turn 18

Plus helping the Rancho Poiema rehab center project.

Very, very impressive!

My twins graduated from HS today. Boy is going to Michigan State to play lacrosse and the girl to Florida to play soccer and study Aerospace Engineering.

How times have changed. I remember many years ago there were very few girls getting into technical type classes. When I was in high school and the 7+ years I spent in the navy I never knew of any girl in a technical class or doing tech work. Fast forward 1978 to when I took a job in San Diego and I had 1 woman in engineering. Three or four years later I hired a second one and it's been on the increase ever since.

JZ good for your daughter, I hope it all works out for both your kids.

My understanding is that the Tecate border crossing closes at 2:00 PM. The CBP Border Wait Time web page still shows: "Tecate Hours of Operation: 5 am-11 pm Date: 6/11/2020 "
Obviously, CBP has not changed the web page to reflect the new hours during the pandemic. A look at the wait time bar graph confirms the afternoon closure.

Interesting how things are changing. Her program is 3/4ths male.

The post that stated Tecate northbound was closed was incorrect. I checked and the next day someone posted that they had crossed, although it was down to one lane and there was a 4 hour wait and it closes at 2pm.

I posted this earlier when Tecate northbound was questioned: https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/local-media-release/san-diego-c...
