Baja Summer Camps for Kids?

Other than NOLS, are there any summer camps for kids in Baja?

I havent heard of any but think it is a great idea.

My daughter, BAja Gypsy and I have been brain storming about expanding our horizons and client base here in Bahia Asuncion.

I have always been a horse gal and loved visiting farms & ranches.
I have a vision of my new ranchito raising animals & vegetables & fruit for food & pleasure, horses to ride, petting farm area etc...all with an educational component.

The beautiful wall tents, beds etc from our whale camp could be set up there for the public to camp in. The main ranch house is the kitchen & dining area and classroom/common area. We are making an outdoor dining area too.

The kids would participate in raising animals, harvesting food from the gardens, help cook, serve and wash up as well as beach activities like shore fishing, surf & boogie board lessons. It would generate some jobs and local kids can be subsidized and attend camp as sort of cultural exchange program too.

Big dreams I realize but hey...dreams do come true if you believe in them, work hard to attain them and ask for help!







I bet kids would love it, or maybe entire families?It is quiet, great view and only 5 minutes from town.







Since you asked this question, I would love to hear peoples ideas and whether they would send their kids to a camp like this. What would be the best length of stay....a week? Just kids or parents too? Comments & suggestions are most welcome and important to decide whether it is a viable idea.

Well, its a neat idea. Not sure how many parents are going to drive 10 hours south of the border to drop their kids off at summer camp. Would have to be an adult / kid combination, staying in the tents, enjoying recreational activities.

NOLS is not a summer camp.

I have seen a few camp programs for kids in baja. Seen a few in ensenada area.

Sending your kids to summer camp in the midst of a pandemic doesn't sound like the brightest plan.

i dont think it'll pan out...

americans and canadians are afraid of crossing the border let alone letting the kids stay here without them...
summer camp is for younger kids

i steal away my grandkids all summer and they love it here
but their dad wont come

nols is college kids...they already left home...they fly alone...
mom and dad only flip the bill
nols picks them up at the airport and drops them off
everything is scheduled like a college class and you get credit for it

little kids would be a different market completely
and ALOT of liability

i see mexican kids go to camp in mexico, they dont seem to be afraid.
i doubt gringo parents are going to send their kids across border to go to camp; why would they when there are so many great choices in country and near their homes? (in non-covid-19 years). plus, the weather in mexico in summer is in many places just too hot, and the choice of summer camps in mexico is much, much less than in usa.

My thought was that a parent or guardian would bring the kids down and either stay in the area & fish or surf whatever or maybe just have a family camp for everyone.

actually the NEW generation are not campers...

they need comfort...and cell coverage with data
