restaurant recommendations

okiegumbo - 10-7-2020 at 08:40 AM

My family and I and two adult sons are coming down for the Baja 1000 if it isn't cancelled. I would greatly appreciate recommendations for a family restaurant, fish tacos. street tacos and above all tamales wrapped in banana leaves. Chile en nogado would be the " icing on the cake"

Thanks Okiegumbo

If you want tamales from Oaxaca, best to go there. There is a lady from Oaxaca at the Tues/Sat market in La Paz that has that base covered. There are two street locations here that have excellent corn husk tamales.

The Baja 1000 isn't going to La Paz... but we still don't know where along the 1,000 mile course the OP will be at so we can advise him on restaurants???!!!

Taco stands for the win :light::light::light:

At the Old Mill Hotel (also owned by the Eucalipto restaurant chef, Javier). The hotel is located on the water's edge in San Quintín.
The hotel has all new mattresses as of 09/2020

Looks like the B1K race is going right past the Old Mill and Campo Lorenzo. Anyone know what the hotel is charging these days?

Really good tacos!

Very popular place -

Assuming you are heading down Highway 1D into Ensenada - well, as you go through the 3rd toll booth look at your odometer - add 2.5 miles - that will give you three minutes to start salivating for in 2.5 miles look on the left side of the road - can't miss it (as the say) Tacos El Trailero - soon as you see it, go to the next corner - a traffic signal - make a U-turn - also parking directly behind the place.

I think you can click on the image to enlarge it.

Aren't most tamales wrapped in corn husks? I've never had one in a banana leaf in Baja, is that just me?
