bad luck?

I've always heard "bad luck" translated as "mala suerte", but Transparent Language's "Spanish Word of the Day" mailing translates it as "mala pata" (literally "bad paw"). Given their Castilian bias, I wonder if it's unique to Spain or if it's used in other Spanish-speaking countries as well. How have you heard "bad luck" translated in Mexico?

Here is a tune called "Que Mala Suerte" by Los De Abajo.
