Great county campground at Portero
Just 10 minutes from Tecate
We camp there every year on the way north
Hot showers

We used to stay overnight at the Cocopah Casino Resort & Conference Center parking lot, a portion of it designated for 5th wheels and trailers, just off of US95. Just a few miles south of Yuma and 15 miles to San Luis. We'd of course have dinner there and try our luck at slots.

I second the Potrero county campground as being a great and quiet campground. We'd time our arrival and park our 5th wheel late afternoon, register, unhook then drive to Tecate, park on the US side, walk across and get our FMM. We'd do the same routine when staying at Cocopah's. Next morning, Baja bound.

An important note here... San Luis is in the state of Sonora and I've been told every time I get my FMM there to make dam sure I return it along with showing the bank receipt for it upon leaving Mexico.
Tecate is in the state of Baja and up to this point in time, acquiring your FMM in Baja is mandatory but returning ones FMM is not required... unless someone knows differently????? Still best to ask when you get yours though.

BTW, my statement regarding FMM's can be a hot topic among Nomads, get one, don't get one... entirely your choice, but as one wisely said once " if you're in enough trouble and you need to show your FMM, you'd better well f.....g have one." If for some reason you had to fly home from Cabo, they won't let you past the boarding gate without giving up your FMM.
Sorry, I digress.
Wish I was going this year,,, stuck in Canada.

I've crossed at Sonora a couple dozen times and never returned an FMM.

You can also just cheat like most folks here on this board and never get anything Mexico requires “ hey its just Mexico“. Also don't wear a mask when you come like JZ and infect all with Trumps virus and make sure you have SD plates!
