"on sale"

Today's Spanish Word of the Day from Transparent Language - a site that is admittedly Castilian-centric - translates the phrase "to be on sale" as "estar de rebajas", which I can't say I've ever seen in Mexico or Puerto Rico. "SpanishDict" translates the same phrase as "estar a la venta", which strikes me as much more familiar.

On the other hand, when I plug the former app's example sentence, "En realidad no lo necesito, pero está de rebajas!", SpanishDict renders it "I don't really need it, but it's on sale!" Shall we say six of one, a half dozen of the other?

seems we are talking about "for sale" vs "on sale"
