New La Paz eatery- review needed!

BajaBlanca - 4-6-2021 at 07:21 AM

I see on my facebook page that there is a new Brazilian restaurant in La Paz. Has anyone been? I would really appreciate an honest review.

My friend Lynn from Miami whom I haven't seen in over 40 years is coming to Baja this Saturday. After a week or so, we shall take her and her husband exploring La Paz and other places.

This might be a fun option for somewhere to eat!

The pricing is almost like Fogo de Chao in LA, except in pesos. I’ll try it next time I’m in La Paz. I need to try the (overpriced) Brazilian churasco places in Cabo also...

When in Cabo San Lucas, try Ipanema do Brasil. Very good churrascaria. Not in the touristy area, but not that far form the center. 250 pesos per person, plus drinks.

250 is really reasonable, isn't it?

All in our point of view: Consider that the daily minimum wage wage where they're serving that meal is $142...

For the quality and quantity of food, and given the CSL location, I think it’s reasonable. I ate way too much. I don’t think I can handle that place more than once every couple of weeks.

I sympathize with minimum wage earners. I suspect these guys do a bit better than minimum wage. And they got a tip.

I normally avoid buffet type places. But the Brazilian all-you-can-eat meat meal ain’t a bad experience if your intent is big meat.

I see the restaurant advertises buffet, not ambiance...

If you want good food and ambiance, plenty of good restaurants to choose from in la paz. My favorite is Nim. May cost more than 250; Lencho, you will want to avoid Nim, for tacos and cheaper fare, you may want to try Tacos Perrones.

I haven't seen this one but there are at least two other Brazilian steakhouses in La Paz. The logo of this one looks almost identical to the one directly across the street from Sorstis which is called Ipenema and the other is up on Forjadores though I can't remember the name. Of these I preferred the one on Forjadores

I know there are great places to eat in La Paz, one of our favorites is EL SARAPE right on the malecon, near Tailhunter which is also excelent.

At El Sarape, go upstairs and sit on the balcony. Such a nice view and no one goes up there! Order the chilaquiles with chicken for 2. It is enough for 4 or 5 people...and so good.

The Brazilian in me craves the Brazilian cuts of meat, the heart of palm salad, the desserts and a caipirinha - the typical drink made with cachaca (sugar cane rum).

Well, would you look at that! Good eye, Alan!!!! They’re all affiliated somehow. The new place in La Paz in Blanca’s first post has the same “slogan” as Ipanema in CSL: “Ensaladas. Cortes. Pizza.” And the Ipanemas in La Paz and CSL have the same sign outside.
