Are all those extra CC's actually any advantage on single track?

yes, IMO. when bogged down on steep ground, sand or mud, cracking the throttle and feeling that torque seemingly to come out of nowhere and start pulling is a wonderful thing.

split the difference, take a look at a hard enduro start line.....all 300cc 2 strokes:coolup:

and im sure Larry had no trouble;)

bajatrailrider - 5-8-2021 at 05:47 PM

On the trails we ride no advantage on big bike . As far as big hill climbs. There is none if have not made on little girls bike . Just ask Ed haha as where did we ride ? I have keys to mega big ranchos incredible riding . Very. Remote and abandoned routes.

What will happen when they outlaw gasoline motors? I hope the battery lasts long enough to enjoy the trip! Larry will have plenty of real motorcycles in his stable!

motoged - 5-9-2021 at 12:21 PM

And I wonder if an electric Tacoma will be a real truck....

decreased carbon emissions
cleaner world
less noise
more reliable mechanical systems
teeth gnashing by troglodytes

i doubt "they" will "outlaw" them, but certainly govt will use policy and regulation to promote and encourage e-engine technology as it can be so much better than IC engines

and who is "they?" "they" is govt for the people, by the people.

Maybe? But, renamed Ticoma (Tick Coma)! Sucking energy off the grid instead of making its own power. LOL

Huh? What about the petroleum sucked from the ground to make gasoline?
Did you miss high school physics and chemistry?

Both use chemical reactions to produce kinetic and electric energy. One oxidizes and the other is an ion transfer.

Just imagine rock-crawling in a rig where you have immense amounts of torque available at near zero RPM. I think the potential is very interesting.

truth be told just last week the all-electric volkswagen looked pretty impressive in the NORRA 1000! they got a ways to go but hey its a start!

I missed that, how did they charge it?

I'm dreaming of a ride I can drive silently on electric for 8 hours out into the sticks, park it for the night in the middle of nowhere and tell it to switch over to its hydrogen fuel cell and charge up the batteries while I sleep.
:light:

well it wasn't easy but they pulled it off:D

Larry, I hope to catch up with you in November for a couple of days. I'll give a shout when I know the days for sure and see if you are available.

To me the big game changer is the Rekluse clutch, makes any bike a bream to ride when you are tired or lazy. I still hammer my KTM 500 down the highway for several hundred miles at a time so I like the CC'S. if I was doing single track only I would have a KTM 300 two smoke for sure.

Awesome looking ride as always..

bajatrailrider - 5-9-2021 at 03:49 PM

The auto clutch Ed has in his ktm 500 . He loves it two things I don't like. Down hill no engine braking at slow speed. Can't bump start it if battery dead other then that . It's great yes on riding moto off road truck sxs all good.

bajatrailrider - 5-9-2021 at 03:52 PM

I'm wondering how our ride report got to electric cars 🤔

advrider - 5-10-2021 at 07:26 AM

All of the threads get derailed in about 8-10 posts now. Would be nice to stay on track and talk or start a new thread when the subject is off topic! The new Rekluse clutches now has engine braking on down hills, much better then the originals. I kind of wonder if you couldn't bump stat it now by towing and dropping the clutch? I'll have to try one day.

David K - 5-10-2021 at 07:37 AM

Larry, remember that I can display in this thread any photos you took if you cannot.

I have some engine braking if I want it. Not as much as I had before I installed it. Bump start isn't possible without recluse adjustment. I have coasted down many hills with it in gear and the engine shut off. Wouldn't trade it for anything. It allows a very mediocre rider (me) to ride a lot of very tough trails.

bajatrailrider - 5-10-2021 at 10:18 AM

Thank you David . Haha Ed Mediocre rider 👋😂 he sits on seat. Over the most difficult places to pass like he is street riding . I can't see my getting auto clutch in near future. As my cheater bikes are to easy to ride as it is . If I was still riding 500s it would be mandatory. With power band and cheater tire my bike . Super easy to ride no need to get a run at hill climb. It is little tractor even with 14/45 gearing . You dirt bikers understand that street gear on dirt bike .

Larry, if you are coming north to check on your properties anytime soon, please stop by here as I have a new Baja Atlas with your name on it (a big thank you for the vise grips that got me home from El Coyote)! I live along I-15 between Esocndido and Temecula.

Good report, nice pics!
