Really great to see this cooperation between the states.

Showing your true colors, JZ. You've been upfront with your politics so no surprise. Former President Draft Dodger has desantis in his back pocket. Don't give two shlts about his background. Well spoken my butt. He cares about himself and running for President in '24. Opens his mouth and shlt comes out.

You can't be f*cking serious? Trolling and looking for an argument, aren't ya?

Every time you compare Florida to California I think there's something seriously wrong with your thinking.

Hated Trump. Love this guy. He loves America.

Fantastic to see him stepping up to help at the border. Have you seen how out of control it is? 180K crossed in May that they know about.

We have a huge homeless problem in California that is rapidly getting worse. Spending billions to ship border crossers all over the US is money taken from helping the homeless and other domestic causes.

Give the guy a listen with an open mind.

I wonder what Florida taxpayers think about their money being spent in Arizona and Texas enforcing federal laws instead of in Florida enforcing state laws.

That might be too much to swallow even for the state's conservatives.

If you listen you hear why it is important to Florida citizens.

They are bringing meth into Florida at record levels. A 82 woman was raped. Ice isn't deporting felons any more and Florida is stuck with them.

States routinely help Florida when they have natural disasters.

Hopefully it helps to get the Federal govt. back to doing its job.

Without taking an opinion on DeSantis' promise, there seem to be serious legal impediments to his proposal. Florida law officers have no jurisdiction in Texas unless they are deputized by a local or state agency. Many counties would not be pleased with these officers untrained in Texas law.
Then, what law would they enforce? If it is federal immigration law, then the federal attorney general would have to prosecute and that is unlikely. If it is some state trespassing law, then the individual county district attorney would have to prosecute and many border counties are already on record saying they won't do it.
If they are just catching migrants and turning them over to Border Patrol, I suppose they would be Ok as long as Border Patrol accepts the arrests, which they may not do because the misdemeanor was not committed in their presence.
The officers themselves would probably want to know who would be responsible for their care if they are injured or killed enforcing Texas law. It is a sticky situation all around.
If Texas needs help, they would probably be better served by using the national guard under state deployment than officers from over 1,000 miles away.

I looked at opening 5 seconds of this. Looks like it took 20+ overweight angry white people to announce this N-zi PR stunt. One dude did sort of looked Hispanic, probably was put on stage as the token ethno dude for GOP faux diversity message.

Desantis is such a predictable GOP trump sycophant. He always pulls out the anti-immigrant rant to drum up the white bigot vote.

And yet again you play the race card. Anyone that has a different idea from yours is a racist.

Why do you continue to spew your hatred on here?

In my book, you are the definition of a racist because you judge people by the color of their skin, not the content of their character.

Who Is Ron DeSantis?
Wallace BruschweilerMay 30, 2021
Just in case you were wondering why 60 Minutes had a hit piece on this Paisan – the Governor of Florida. Anyone who criticizes him – I have a question for you – can you please post your education and service to our country resume so we can put things in perspective?

“Ronald Dion DeSantis was born on September 14, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Karen (née Rogers) and Ronald DeSantis. He is of Italian descent. His family moved to Orlando, Florida, before relocating to Dunedin, Florida, when he was six years old. In 1991, he was a member of the Little League team from Dunedin National that made it to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

After graduating from Dunedin High School in 1997, DeSantis attended Yale University. He was captain of Yale’s varsity baseball team and joined the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. On the Yale baseball team, DeSantis was an outfielder; as a senior in 2001, he had the team’s best batting average at .336.

He graduated from Yale in 2001 with a B.A. magna cum laude in history. He then spent a year as a history teacher at the Darlington School. DeSantis then attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 2005 with a Juris Doctor cum laude.

DeSantis received his Reserve Naval officer’s commission and assignment to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) in 2004 at the U.S. Naval Reserve Center in Dallas, Texas, while still a student at Harvard Law School. He completed Naval Justice School in 2005. Later that year, he received orders to the JAG Trial Service Office Command South East at Naval Station Mayport, Florida, as a prosecutor. In 2006, he was promoted from lieutenant, junior grade to lieutenant. He worked for the commander of Joint Task Force-Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO), working directly with detainees at the Guantanamo Bay Joint Detention Facility.

In 2007, DeSantis reported to the Naval Special Warfare Command Group in Coronado, California, where he was assigned to SEAL Team One and deployed to Iraq with the troop surge as the Legal Advisor to the SEAL Commander, Special Operations Task Force-West in Fallujah.

DeSantis returned to the U.S. in April 2008, at which time he was reassigned to the Naval Region Southeast Legal Service. The U.S. Department of Justice appointed him to serve as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida. DeSantis was assigned as a trial defense counsel until his honorable discharge from active duty in February 2010. He concurrently accepted a reserve commission as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the US Navy Reserve.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.”

I don't see how this is Baja Politics.

About Desantis:

US conservatives like his politics, liberals don't. It's that simple and very tiresome.

I'm not very up-to-date on these new-fangled political terms, but from the context here on BN I've been assuming that being "woke" means calling names or otherwise insulting others order to attempt to increase one's own personal stature.

The ironic thing about that childish behavior is that contrary to evoking admiration or increasing one's prestige, it just makes the wokie look like an idiot with no credibility.

SFandH - 6-20-2021 at 10:24 AM

The term "woke" has been used in the black community for decades.

"alert to social and/or racial discrimination and injustice".

AKgringo - 6-20-2021 at 10:54 AM

I consider myself an informed voter, and certainly have opinions about the politicians, and policies that are going to shape our future. I do not come to this forum to engage in debate about things that have nothing to do with enjoying Baja, or learning about trips to other parts of the world.

I can't stand zealots from the right or left! Only a troll would come to this forum slinging insults, name calling and labeling people based on whether they checked the "not Hillary" or "not Donald" box in 2016!

Peace, love, and lobster tacos!

Bullchit!

You right wingnuts are just afraid of the truth. And, very few right wingnuts are bright enough to get a PhD, do original research, and get a tenure track position at a non-right wingnut university.

Your ideas are packs of lies (for proof just see current GOP under the control of Trump), so they do not belong in a reputable university. You want your children to learn a pack of lies, then send them to Trump University, Oral Roberts University, or Bob Jones Univeristy.

Kids who are taught good values, to examine all sides of an issue, do their research and to keep an open mind can't be "indoctrinated". The university educated tend to be liberals precisely because they are educated. As opposed to simply unquestionably believing whatever the people they live around believe.
