Chain Saw sculpture making in Wegorzewo, Poland

BajaBlanca - 8-29-2021 at 09:50 AM

The other day I saw a sign saying that there would be a week of saw sculpture making in the park on the port, about 5 minutes away from where we are staying.

So, on the 21st, we headed over. One guy already working away and he had these pieces right next to his work area.

Probably because of all the ospreys in La Bocana, Les's eyes and mine went straight to this guy!

We negotiated price and ended up buying it. It is gorgeous and quite heavy. And it will have to stay in Poland for the time being. The sculptor has a day job and does this as a hobby. He told us all the pieces were commissioned for different locations around town - his going to a Vet ... hence the pig. (see it below)

Every two days we stopped by to see the progress and these are the final sculptures. What fun! How talented!

This is our guy's piece for the Veterinarian's office.

This bench is phenomenal. Wegorz means eel and the town we are in is Wegorzewo. Eels decorate the back of the bench.

My favorite is the one obviously designated for the local public library. It is so beautiful!

It was a treat to see all the pieces come to life.

You and Les are our best Nomad posters by far.

Never a misstep. Good on you both.

If there is one member who I always look forward to, it is your contributions to a better world for all.

For that alone, do continue, even if you choose to move away at some point.

That is absolutely incredible work. What a vacation you're both having.

Was wondering where you had gone to. And why move away from where you are now? We were planning on stopping there on our way driving down.(If we are ever allowed to)

JD - we have been on vacation! Having the time of our lives. Went to Poland with family first, then to Turkey where we fell in love with Alanya, then we went to Germany to visit my son who is in the Air Force there and plans to stay forever and now we are back in Poland for another 3 weeks until we head to San Diego, then return to La Bocana.

Les has family in Poland (brother and sis) and my son is in Germany with my granddaughter. We want to be closer. Changes, changes.
