I know many have given up, but this should still be an issue that ultimately works in favor of the Vaquita: Saving the Vaquita

The agreement, signed by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society Chairman and President Pritam Singh on August 6, indicates that the organization will inform Mexico’s Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection and the Secretariat of the Navy about any abandoned gillnets located in the Zero Tolerance Area and the Vaquita Refuge. The nets will be recovered and delivered by Mexico’s National Commission for Aquaculture and Fisheries to protect the critically endangered vaquita porpois

This suggests that Sea Shepherds formerly would remove gill nets and were asked to leave. Now they have been welcomed back to inform Mexico’s National Commission for Aquaculture and Fisheries to remove the gill nets. Is that correct?

It will be interesting to see see if.

a) the pangueros are more tolerant of the Commission that they were of the Sea Shepherds and
b) if not will the Comission just do nothing.
