Your favorite restaurant in Loreto?

David K - 11-19-2021 at 03:09 PM

Orlando's

BajaBlanca - 11-19-2021 at 05:40 PM

Mi Loreto. Excellent food, amazing service, and exotic margaritas. The atmosphere is really fun as well, English is spoken which makes it easier for all. I heard that the owner, Edgar, used to work at a restaurant in Cabo and dreamed of opening up his own place. Gotta love a story like that!

BajaMama - 11-19-2021 at 06:49 PM

I second Mi Loreto.

NE14Baja - 11-19-2021 at 07:43 PM

Many really good restaurants in Loreto, depends what you like.
Cafe Mita is excellent, Mi Loreto serves up a mean cucumber Mezcalito. La Palapa, Los Mandiles, Orlando’s, La Misión, El Rey Tacos, Super Burro etc, etc, enjoy!

JZ - 11-20-2021 at 06:07 AM

Domingo’s Place Steak House

100X - 11-20-2021 at 12:02 PM

Super Burro!

But now I have good recommendations on others!

Loretana - 11-20-2021 at 12:58 PM

I heartily agree with all of the Nomad's recommendations, and would like to add....

La Picazon...out on the beach north of town, beautiful setting and food

Alma del Sur ...for some home cooked New Orleans style dishes

Restaurante Mezzaluna...for some delicious pizza

and my special favorite...Restaurante Canipole...for a unique and memorable dining experience

Taquería Los Poblanos, on the west side of the highway. Close to the north end of town. Excellent tacos.

The best... x2

msawin - 11-20-2021 at 06:30 PM

Super Burro is my favorite but, El Ray’s... the best

What time of year is La Picazon open?

Been out there 3 times and it is always closed? Twice for the season. Think they close at like 5pm when they are there?

Don Pisto - 11-20-2021 at 07:18 PM

BigBearRider - 11-20-2021 at 07:39 PM

Is Orlando’s open again?

Loretana - 11-20-2021 at 07:51 PM

JZ

La Picazon will be open on Tuesday November 23rd, according to their FB page...

JZ - 11-20-2021 at 07:52 PM

Best breakfast is La Mision. Food there overall is very good.

Howard - 11-21-2021 at 08:47 AM

Breakfast - Isla's

El Rey for carne asada tacos

Plobano's for El Pastor tacos

Mission Hotel to bring your fresh caught fish

Happy Hour - Mission Hotel 4-6 except Thursdays, 2 for 1 and very powerful

Best overall experience for dining is Picazon

Clams - Clam Shack aka Vista a Mar

HeyMulegeScott - 11-21-2021 at 09:32 AM

We had a great dinner at Mita Gourmet last year.

100X - 11-21-2021 at 07:50 PM

Any opinions on Santo Cielo?

Is the Clam Shack the place on the beach a few miles South of town?

Yes, south of town on the beach.

BornFisher - 11-21-2021 at 10:44 PM

Well for good and fast chicken there is the place on the main drag, north side. Either Pollo Feliz, or Loco, or Retardo. Hope it`s still there.
And the place at the marina in Puerto Escondido is fine enough.

queseyo - 11-23-2021 at 09:59 AM

Heck I'll bite....
Just spent 5 weeks in town and we ate out almost every night.
Many good ones mentioned but I didnt see Buena Vida by the arroyo on Madero going out to Zaragoza, maybe the best mariscos in town but there are so many.. like El Coloran (next to Augies upstairs), La Palapa San Telmo (on the hiway so of the arroyo by the same name), we love the Clam Shack!. The brewery El Zopilote has got good food and they just tapped a keg of Azteca imperial stout that is over the top!
Seconds on Orlandos, Mita Gourmet, Los Mandiles (not currently open for dinner) and the Mision Hotel, Mezzaluna, Super Burro and if you're tired of all that seafood and Mexican food Alma del Sur has an amazing chicken pot pie, BBQ spare ribs or a chicken fried pork chop! Lot's of smaller neigborhood shops too... our fav is Asadero Yumar up on Juarez past the Pemex.
Good restaurants in Loreto Bay too, so I hear!
So many options and so little time ! Haha! Going back after the holidays to do it again!
BTW - best dorado fishing in 10 years!

While I would not rank it among the "best," I always seem to end up having my morning coffee at an outdoor table at Cafe Ole'.

JZ - 11-24-2021 at 06:30 PM

What are ppl's favorites for breakfast?

Howard - 11-24-2021 at 08:18 PM

Isla's for Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles. Down it with some fresh squeezed O.J.

Best chilaquiles and breakfast @ Islas. Ole for anything.

Los Mandiles (down from Mision hotel), or, Mi Loreto (across from cathedral).

Chilaquiles. Never understood their appeal. One or 2 bites, I’m done.

You can judge a b’fast place on the quality of their fruit platter. If they don’t have one, or it is poor selection of unripe or poor quality fruit, the other food is not good. Universal truth. Try the test.

queseyo - 11-25-2021 at 10:01 AM

Try Dory Luz on Madero just so of the taxis for breakfast...homemade tortillas always a plus!

RFClark - 11-26-2021 at 10:36 AM

We like Domingo’s Place (El Nido) excellent food and service.

Here's why internet forums are stupid. I can't stand fruit platters.. Yet goat and I both use this to determine the best breakfast.

*smh*

Whatever YOU want, does it taste good? Cool.. Let us know. No need to poo-poo certain things. These guys have a great fruit platter! Sweet! These guys have amazing chilaquilies! Awesome. Chime in with what you like. Keep your negative comments and personal preferences to yourself.

Mi Loreto - Fruit plate was great! huevos rancheros was good. Orlando's, everyone loved it (but sorry... we didn't get a fruit plate to compare anything to).

TLBaja79 - 11-29-2021 at 03:53 PM

Orlando's does great Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner.

San Telmo has incredible seafood!

Santo Cielo became our favorite place recently. They had REAL fresh fish which is always unbeatable. Arrachera steak was unreal! Service went downhill once they filled up every table the last night we were there but oh well!

Los Mandiles has really great food!, great people too!

I think El Rey del Taco is closed now? Hopefully they will be back soon!

Mezzaluna has some of the best pasta I've ever had!

There are a few restaurants we used to love that seem to have gone downhill, sold, changed management, etc. No longer does 'yes the fish is fresh' mean anything...even at the nice places...

Tagging onto this convo....we'll be in Loreto over Christmas and would love to find a restaurant that is open (!!) and also has fun, festive, outdoor vibe that kids might also enjoy (so not a fancy hotel kind of place) maybe Blackbird? La Picazon? Canipole? Thanks! :)

RFClark - 5-16-2022 at 06:31 PM

The old El Nido Steak House! I think it’s Georges now.

Loretana - 5-17-2022 at 10:20 AM

Domingo, who ran the place for years now owns it.

It's called "Domingo's Place Steakhouse"
