Whale charges boat

pauldavidmena - 4-24-2022 at 02:45 PM

The Gringo Gazette published this account of a tourist boat outside La Paz being upended by a whale. Has anyone else heard about this incident?

From the vid it does not appear that the whale “charged” the boat. Looks like the boat was traveling at speed and launched off a whale, and whale may have been stationary or surfacing.
From the vid, looks like captain error; the boat hit the whale (the whale did not hit the boat)
There is a reason you are supposed to stay back from whales, to not harass them, and to not get in their way.

What I read was Captain was going at excessive speed, and hit the whale. Whales are not known to "charge" boats. One of the passengers was apparently hospitalized. Captain is to face a multa. I am sure there will be more on this story..

Whale charging the boat excuse may be a little hard for the Cap to defend.

This ABC News article supports the view that this was not a "Whale Attack" but rather the captain's error/negligence.

That whale must have a large credit limit.

Funny. When I first read the headline I thought "how much did the whale charge the boat?"
