Looking for Best Hotel in San Felipe

TLBaja79 - 4-29-2022 at 08:54 AM

Driving through San Felipe next week. Nice clean safe hotel is priority.

On the beach would be great for after/before driving walks.
Restaurant/Bar would be nice too

Any recommendations?

Sounds like the 'El Cortez' may fit the bill?

I have used about a half dozen hotels there. All ok.
Several are about a block off the beach.

El cortez is very nice. It's on the beach and has a great restaurant.

x2 with reservations.

There is a menu available for food. One of the employees will run into town to get it. Otherwise, no food or alcohol on premises. Micro/fridge in room.

Hotel is what seems like miles from town.

Bring my own food. Don't need to be in town. With dog, it's been $110/night. Gate locks at night.

It's on the beach. Pretty nice.

(Might stay at El Cortez next.)

El Cortez it was. It was nice and clean and had a restaurant on site.

We stopped at Las Palmas, checked it out before moving on but and it was also really nice and clean.

We liked the idea being on the beach, walking and swimming after a long days drive. Happy with El Cortez

Alfonsinas was booked, that was our first choice but didn't have reservations.

Glad the recommendation worked out well for you! Any photos?

I always liked the Cortez back in the day, though the staff could be a little snooty. Nice pool, the "Barefoot Bar" with its odd 9-11 themed decor (world trade center, etc.) and nice beach-front indoor/outdoor restaurant. Sometimes we would stay at El Capitan (half the price) and walk over to the Cortez to hang out in the bar.

However, a few years ago the Cortez had been divided up into three separate hotels, divided by chain link fences and each with its own office. Several of the heirs were squabbling over who owned what. Is it all back to one large hotel now?

In 2019, the Trail of Missions Recon stayed at one of the break-away hotels, called the Stella Del Mar. It was on the beach and served good food in the on-site restaurant, too. One night in May, 2019... southbound.
