When I was in Mexico City last year, touring the sites/museums of the various indigenous tribes of Mexico, I was struck by how barbarous they were to other tribes they subjugated; slavery, sacrifices, genocide, torture, etc.

It seemed like the only thing that differentiated the conquistadors from them was their ultimate "success" in subjugation through superior technologies.

And if you accept that we all emigrated from Africa at some point, it's not surprising, really.

Burns said it best.....Man's inhumanity to man, makes countless thousands mourn. Doesn't seem to matter when or where they came from.

Modern warfare of the 20th and 21st century has out done anything in our savage past. Look at Hitler’s gas chambers, USA’s nuclear bombing of Japan, and remote modern weaponry where 1st world cruise missiles, bombers and drones rain death down on 3rd world peasants.

Don't forget Samson killed 1000 Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey, not bad for one man.

We are watching a netflix series on the history of Turkiye and OMGosh, the brutality is awful and it was over centuries and centuries.

David, "socialism" is a bit more Nuanced than you seem to think, please educate yourself on the various "systems" claiming the socialist label. Are you talking about Market or Non market socialism? Democratic socialism or Authoritarian socialism? or NeoLiberalism?

On top of that , often the word was conscripted by fascist and communist regimes to try and justify their cause.

So I would appreciate it if you could do a bit of historical research, and instead of spouting right wing mantras you pick up from who knows where, demonstrate that you are indeed knowledgeable on the subject.

All societies since the beginning of time brutalized and enslaved others. It was the Western societies who ended it.

The modern-day progressives somehow do not realize this.

You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. DK is living the capitalist dream, he will never be able to see another viewpoint.

Remember when Bernie Sanders told us all that the new American dream would be found in socialist places like Venezuela?

The favorite form of US warfare that keeps the mic in profitable business raining death and destruction on relatively helpless third world country’s defenseless against modern weapons and forcing tens of thousands of refugees to the western European country’s to deal with. Then it’s time to move on to other similar targets on a different continent.Follow the money in understanding the never ending wars now building up to the big one.
