Our 1st Baja road trip from Oregon to Loreto 10/24 to 11/15/22

Thanks to everyone here for help planning our trip. We had a blast! We took 2 days from Portland,OR to the border using Harvest host for our stops. 1st night a winery s of Sacramento, was a 12 hour day on the road. 2nd night we stayed at a wild Mustang sanctuary outside Joshua tree.

We crossed the border next morning around 10 am at Mexicali East. Quick search of our travel trailer, got FMM and we were off to San Felipe. Stayed at KIKI's in SF. Felt safe, slept with door unlocked and windows open. Had tacos at Taqueria y mariscos Adriana at the North end of the Malecon. Best fish tacos I had in Baja!

Stayed 2nd night at Campo Beluga in Gonzaga bay. Couple miles washboard road in, nice beach.

From there we went to San Ignacio. Stopped for lunch in G.N at Tacos el muelle, very good but I think Adriana's was better. Road from Guerrero Negro to S.I was in pretty bad shape with dirt cutouts for miles. Took 3 hours. Military checkpoint went ok, just wanted a couple beers. We stayed in S.I at El Padrino campground. Was quiet except for 1 dog barking at 2am, he eventually shut up.

Next day we went to Santispac, stopped in Santa Rosalia for a bit, regret taking trailer into town. Was tight! We stayed for 11 days at Santispac and just made a day trip to Loreto leaving our trailer. In Loreto we ate at La Picazon. WOW!

We really loved Mulege and Santispac. We met so many great people and ate so good! The 1st day we arrived Armando's had a whole hog on the BBQ. We had tacos for lunch, drank margaritas all day then had the hog. I counted 72 bug bites just on 1 ankle. Lesson learned, Wear long socks and pants after dusk and early am.

Heading North the checkpoints waved us through except S.I, quick look in the trailer, very professional. I left them waters, It was 11am. We stayed at G.N that night at Mario's right on HWY 1 North of town. Felt safe. Had seafood combos, they were not great. Margaritas were very good!

Next day we went to San felipe, staying 2 nights at Victor's RV park. We liked it better than KIKI's as there is more room and a restaurant/bar there. We got massages and haircuts.

Crossed Mexicali East on a Saturday morning around 10am, wait was around 30 minutes. Stayed at wineries the next 2 nights, 3rd night stayed in Weed,CA. Woke up it was 19 degrees F.

After this trip, we are planning to go next year, for a month. We are also thinking to sell our truck and trailer, then buy a 1 ton long bed and truck camper, so we can bring our boat!

Fantastic!
Thanks for the trip report and follow up to the help post.
I can't tell you how many times the Nomads have helped with advice, only to never hear back on how the trip went.
Yours was a great exception to that!
