I'm riding with a group who have limited experience in Baja and they are all getting Typhoid vaccines. I've been travelling to Baja for over 30 years

Been going to Baja since the mid-1960s. Never ever heard that or been vaccinated for that.
I know several people that have contracted Dengue fever in Baja Sur, but I have never heard of anyone coming down with Typhoid. I don't think there
is an effective vaccination for Dengue, but I could be wrong.

Pretty much any polluted body of fresh water in Central Mexico ( there are plenty ) carries a risk of typhoid exposure.
I've never had the vaccine but I most certainly have the antibodies after learning the hard way.

I think I got it racing kayaks at the lake in San Miguel de Allende.
It is ridiculously polluted but I hadn't done my research on it until afterwards.
That was around 8 years ago or so.
I think it is way more common than realized but I am not a professional who has researched it deeply.
It is definitely being couriered into Mexico from the south, too.

The wording is from the article on the vaccine. Apparently the second or subsequent times you get it are likely to be much more serious (fatal) than
the side effects of the vaccine.

Yep, had at least one death here in BoLA last summer from Dengue. It was her second infection.
