A possible place to camp in Nevada County, CA

AKgringo - 4-26-2023 at 08:00 PM

Any Nomads that find themselves in my part of NorCal are welcome to camp on my property for a short period of time. There no facilities developed, but there are a few pleasant spots you could set up in.

After a cold, wet winter, the oak trees are turning green again, and the fish are starting to rise on my three ponds (bass and bluegill). My seasonal streams are still flowing, but short of having another "atmospheric river" they will soon dry up.

This area was worked during the gold rush days, but you might get lucky with a metal detector or gold pan. You may find a few bullets instead of nuggets, because it is a great, safe place to target shoot!

You would have over fifty acres to yourself, and all the firewood you could burn, or haul away. The huge burn piles I have been building lately will probably shut down soon, but warming/cooking size fires will still be legal.

Dirt bikes or quads are OK, and when you get tired of the same old trails on my property, there are back roads and old hydraulic mine areas that are easily accessed.

Rollins Lake Peninsula Campground and boat launch are just a few miles away if boats are your thing.

Just might have to check this out. We love that area, and its not to far from home base in Sutter creek. If I remember correctly, you are a moto rider as well. Very nice offer.

That's a generous offer.

What a nice offer . I really miss GV. I grew up there . We had 40 acres with a pond and a boarded up gold mine up on Ridge road. Of course I think just about everyone in Grass Valley has a gold mine on (or under) their property whether they know it or not !

A long time ago I had dirt bikes, but it has been so many years that I would have to say that I am not a rider.

There are a couple of neighbors that I could steer you to that could probably give you suggestions on local options though.

I grew up here as well (Nevada Union class of 64) and lived near the west end of Ridge Rd. I am actually back in the same house that my dad bought in 1947.

I have found a few small nuggets on my property, but even on a good day I am lucky to find enough fine gold to pay for the gasoline my water pump uses!
