Scam hitting timeshare owners in Mexico here.

I hardly know what to say.

Oh No!.....

A stain on the otherwise unblemished reputation of the time share industry!

Shocking! And those sales people seem so friendly!

They never should have started arresting and taking out the old cartel bosses. Sure, they ran drugs, tapped gas pipelines, vied for territory and killed each other, and other bad stuff, but they didn't mess with common people.
Now all these punks, come up out of the barrios, with no "honor among thieves", completely without any code of ethics and zero conscience, shake down mom and pop businesses for "protection" money, kidnap and kill students, and run these kinds of scams.

Actually, quite the opposite. A liberal leader with "hugs not bullets" strategy has seen this spiral into the abyss.
The only way to take the country back from the criminals is to TAKE it back by force. Let the populace be armed so they have a fighting chance and the Mexican government needs to swallow its pride and ask for military help to track down these thugs. It is possible at this point but needs an entirely new strategy. And yes, there will unfortunately be casualties.

Timeshares a $12.5B industry.

NY DA tells a victim they should have been more ''diligent'' before losing their life savings to a scammer.

The real cartel victims? Cartel employees working at call centers.

Scammers can be in India or any where in the world.

Timeshare scamming is a white collar crime and cartels are involved. No deaths reported, or threats, for refusing to do business with bogus cartel timeshare callers.

It's difficult not to blame someone who's been scammed into sending large amounts of money by wire -- but there you go.

Yes, it's hard to fathom how so many people get naively scammed and think we would never be so gullible. But some of these scammers are really professional- I listened to a podcast about online and phone scamming and one woman, who wasn't particularly naive, nor elderly, told her story, which involved fake calls from the tax dept. and fake websites. She was suspicious at first, but these scammers had covered all their bases so well that she was convinced. The irony was that the scammers convinced her that they were the tax dept, enlisting her help to catch some scammers.:wow:

I met my first wife, got married and decided to wait a bit for our honeymoon. We were broke and opened our real estate office on the Oregon Coast. Our honesty took off in the small town we lived in Oregon, mid '90s. Dec. After making some good decisions we decided to take our honeymoon. Found a great sounding deal. $380.00 PP including round-trip Alaska Air and 5 days at a hotel in Cabo. Back then the hotel was kinda brick colored and can't remember the name.
After landing, time share people were everywhere offering "deals". Of course, being real estate pros, we could never be fooled like this.Ha,ha!!! We ended up having an awesome time catching our first marlin etc. and bought a time share at Sol Mar. It was like "Oh My_G what did we do? Shorten the
story...3 years later before they tore down Sol Mar we sold our TS for 3X what we paid for it after using the time share to vacation in many places around the world. Use your head. 25 or so years later we have a beautiful home in Los Barriles!
