Dem Bones....
seem to be everywhere in Baja. I remember seeing a large bone mostly buried in the sand back in the early 70s. We were at Malirrimo and there whale
bones all over the place. We wanted to see how big it was so we hooked a chain on it and tried over and over to yank it out of the sand. The bone
finally popped out and we were amazed to see this gigantic whale vertebrate. It must have been 5 feet in across.
I have seen bones in odd places and in many yards. The desert does well at preverving these white reminders of what was. They fit so perfectly amid
the cactus and terrain.
It isn't unusual to find native inhabitants bones in caves throughout Baja. Many people have told of the bones and their strange placement in some
remote areas.

Bones in the States from Baja
All of my Whale Bones and the Vertabre of a Dophlin are safely kept in my Shop. bones were collected over many years and are still in good Shape. I
crossed the border before the "endangered Species Act came into being.
they remind me of the many Whales Virginia and I saw over the Years.

so the whale flipper i took off the carcass north of san juanico last may and brought home was a FLUKE?  :moon:
seriously, i didn't try to hide it and the border guard apparently never saw it or i would have another date in front of the juDGE??? 
how do they know it was endangered? AND WHY DIDN'T THEY SAVE IT IF THEY KNEW???

Hector y Sunshine
They are a lovely couple...
Pictured here in their Ano Nuevo attire. We try to dress them appropriate to the holiday/season as often as possible. As of Spring break we left them
wearing base ball caps, Hector has a refreshing Jimador and Sunshine was left enjoying a can of Presidente. As they age, their bones are starting to
require more and more bailing wire, but they are holding tough. An effort of love.
The Santa hats pictured above didn't last long. We bought them at a Segunda in Maneadero, but they were gone after a couple of days. Someone must have
needed them more than Hector and Sunshine did, no biggie as their New Year attire was soon to follow.
As for other bones, we have a juvenile whale skull on our dining room wall in Ensenada that attracts a lot of attention. We have the typical
vertibrae, skulls, ribs and jaw bones that are found after numerous whales were trapped in gill nets one year near our place. Lots of bones.
This was a fun topic.

the most common bones found in Baja are chicken legs. I don't understand what happens to the rest of the chickens bones?

Bones?
How about this bone sitting on one of the graves at Mission San Fernando Velicata. Can someone tell me if it's human or animal? The mission and the
graves are washing away.
