links

Doug -

Great board - good luck with it.

I'm a little confused about adding a link as part of a post. I seems like the only way to do it is to add it at the very end. Any text coming after the url of the link is included as part of the url - so it makes for some very long urls that don't work - there must be something I'm missing.

On the topic of anonymous posts - why do you allow them at all - it only takes a minute to register.

Thanks.

If you put a space or two after a link it works fine. If you don't the software screws up the HTML trying to put a line break in (that's the

Examples:

http://www.google.com

...test...

http://www.google.com

Allowing anonymous posting makes it more conducive to have postings from people that might have a traveler's question, but not interested enough to go through the (perceived) hassle of creating a user account. You may know it only takes a minute, but first-time visitors may not (and they're not that easily convinced).

I had polled the Q & A forum previously about whether to simply make it a signup-only forum through and through, and the response was divided (and lost because of a hacker at the end of October).

Still considering it for all or most forums... haven't made a final decision (nor may any decision be absolutely final...).
