Here's a Problem

You're in a hot-air balloon that left San Jose del Cabo an hour ago. Also aboard are an anthropologist, a biologist, a geologist and a mathematician.

Because of a slow leak in an unreachable place, the balloon has begun a gradual descent toward the Sea of Cortes, where sharks can be seen patrolling the water. It seems likely you'll be able to return to peninsula shores before actually hitting the water--provided one passenger is thrown overboard.

You're the person in charge, so the decision is up to you.

lets see....a guy who studies bones, a guy who studies plants and animals, a guy who studies rocks, and a guy who counts on his toes?

i think the biologist should swan dive into the shark pool. he would better understand the feeding behavior of the sharks and also realize he was becoming one with nature

Isn't possible w/all those highly educated folks that you could bring up something they are all in disagreement over? That way all the hot air they generate might let you get to shore.
Which one is the fattest? I've got a bias when sharks are on the horizon. If I can keep those jaws snappin' a little longer the fattest one's going first.

Don't blame this answer on some smart-*ass Gringo. My son Steve got it from a Mexican friend whom Skeet would class as elite (he's got a Ph.D. in Marine Biology). Who gets tossed? The fat guy.

Throw the math guy over. Everyone uses calculators now so he's not needed. Besides he can figure the odds of survival when he hits the water.
