Are you concerned?
Coke bottle out da ol? car window. Leaching septic system oozing towards the Sea. Mowing down that OCOTILLO Cactus for the new house. Fishin? line
thrown over board.
Now I am not some nutzo environmental fanatic, I dont have a membership card with Green Peace?don?t even have a Boy Scout Merit Badge to my name.
However I do take concerns to my traveling surroundings. Primitive camping is a favorite of our family. At campsites, we pack it in, and we take it
out (the garbage). Fire rings are dismantled, leaving the area looking undisturbed as we leave. A refuse container bag is in our car?so kids don?t
play kite with the Taco Bell wrappers!
What is some of the things my family does to help conserve the natural state of Baja (and other adventurous places)?
Before we drive to Baja. I always check the car for oil leakage; nothing hopefully ends up in the creeks/ocean. If we stop for fishing, the boat
motor is check for gasoline / oil leakage, a garbage bag is in the boat to throw in those six pack plastic can ties, not into the water. Oh?cigarette
butts find a way to the bag too?not some Seagull?s mouth.
We recently started a house site. The Cactus was relocated to another area of the lot. The septic is a self contain unit?does not leach. Natural
colors of the house will be used to blend into the landscape.
What you do to help out (keeping Baja)?

yeah you....
... should be a member of a non-politically motivated org like the Sierra Club
Seriously though grey water is a very handy tool for conservation. Septic water run through 20 ft of sand leaves the effluent innocuous and usable for
irrigation or outside watering. What system do you have?

Great subject Yankee. I like to leave a place a little cleaner than when I got there. This usually means picking up empty beer cans/garbage that
were left by previous visitors. It only takes a few minutes of my time and it makes an immediate difference in the natural beauty of an area;
however temporary.
Unfortunately most people here don't give a rats behind about the environment so most of the time I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle.

Y.I.M.
Yeah but you forgot the papers to your trailer. LOL
You saw the Moke river where we go. No garbage there. Same when we are in Baja. I know how Pokey feels, but every bit helps, right?

Yeah.....thats a good deed, indeed!
Makes two of us that does it now....you are not fighting a
losing battle.
Sharksbaja .
...We use Green lables (environmental sound soaps, papers, whatever). There are no phosphates, fragrance, chlorine free, no dyes, and biodegradable in
these materials. The water from the washer, kitchen, ect......is being directed out to the landscaping (drip system).

We are concerned as well. On our landsite we will definetly, be using our grey water for plants. We are also trying to use plants that are natural
to the desert environment.
The girls at the mercado always get a kick out of my cotton grocery bags!!!

Great subject, and one dear to my heart. Used to be a member of a jeep club and once a year we would volunteer along with other clubs in the area to
go in and clean up desolation valley. A so called conservationist paradise. Only hikers allowed. You wouldn't believe how many tons of trash we hauled
out of there. There are people who think the world is their ashtray. There, I vented. I feel better........
