On a map... or Baja Almanac... Let me help:
Mision Rosario Arriba, as you head out on Mex. 1, (still in town) a big blue sign points left... it is just a block or so uphill.
Museum, in El Rosario Abajo about a mile from Mex. 1 at the sharp curve... go left across the river and drive west. Museum is on your left.
Mision Rosario Abajo, just past the museum... on the right.
La Bocana Beach, if in a 4WD, past the mission and continue west about 4 miles from Mex. 1. If in a 2WD then stay to the right after leaving Mex. 1,
past homes, then uphill past dump to top, then fork left back down to river valley to beach. About 5.5 miles from Mex. 1.
Punta Baja, is about 9-10 miles from Mex. 1 via graded road. Turn left about a mile past the museum.
El Cardonal (cactus forest past El Castillo), also about 9 miles form the curve in town... Go across the bridge southbound on Mex. 1 and turn left at
the far side of the bridge... see Almanac... it is up a side valley to the right (Rio San Juan de Dios)... Cardon Cactus forest.
La Lobera sea lion crater and shoreline with possible sea food restaurant, this is exactly 9 road miles from Baja Cactus Pemex... 6 miles north, then
3 dirt miles west-south-west.
El Camino Real trail, 14 miles from Baja Cactus & Mama Espinoza's turn south on the San Carlos road (KM 80 1/2) go about a mile+ to small dirt
road going right... more details in my trip report and web page http://vivabaja.com/1104
La Vibora road to Rio San Juan de Dios and Sauzalito copper mines, pass the Cardonal side road and continue east...
Las Pintas fossil and petrograph grotto, 14 miles from El Rosario to the Punta San Carlos road, then 18 miles south to side road going left past
'Malvar' in Almanac... about 7 miles in. GPS handy...

Not much interest in a boonie potluck, huh?
Surely you all aren't eating at....gulp......Mama's?
IS there a good sit-down type ristorante in ER that serves good food AND adult beverages........or, at least looks the other way at a poorly
concealed, caguama-shaped brown bag?
I could hit the Ensenada fish market for a mess of shrimp or oysters or ????? Heck, even Baja style fish tacos aren't hard on a Coleman stove.
I really don't enjoy bagging on Mama's......in fact, someone should suggest to whomever is running the joint now that the festival would be an
excellent opportunity to publicly "right the ship", as it were........you know, give good service......give back exact change and lower prices to a
more reasonable level.

There will be a lot of food served... a taste of the town... Wait to hear back from Antonio... It is still a month away (from today)!

I'm always up for a potluck....the problem is getting it together without knowing where everyone will be staying. Are most of the camping people
staying at the RV parK? Boondocking? Where? How many are expected?
David, without knowing the area it's going to be really hard to get organized me thinks......one thing I worry about is parking near Baja Cactus to
even check in and find out where to go. I think I'd better get there a day or two early!

I'm thinking about El Cardonal for boonie camping - the beach sounds nice, but I assume will be full of people for this event. The sand may pose a
problem too, and I don't want any hint of a problem in that regard. Potlucking for Sat. night might turn out to be wonderful. I could pick up some
smoked fish in Ensenada for appetizers.

David, this looks like a good place to camp! If Antonio is going to have security around this area, and that resturant is open (Antonio should talk
to them) we might just camp out over there! Place looks great.
The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.

Here we go again.....I hope we don't annoy the non-attenders as we did with the BBBB get-together, but, I know of no other way to figure this out
except here.
So here goes....
Saturday night sounds like a good deal for a pot-luck (providing there is nothing else planned?) David can we find that out?
I'm leaving home (Seattle) next Friday so I'll be off-line after that unless I happen to plug in the lap-top along the way down.
I'll start a new "Pot Luck" thread for those interested (and those that are not can avoid it) Okay?

Must admit, I was one of the bigger critics....
....of all the BBBB planning.
But it was the poor software that created those long strings that pushed other posts down, down, down.....
This software doesn't do that.
Still, maybe we should take the nuts and bolts of the boonie planning over to the Baja Trips board or ? when we finally get the details of the
festival events.

If you all want to move this thread off the General Baja forum, then may I suggest going to the Baja Events forum here on Baja Nomad... not the Trip
Reports Forum.
I already posted the event news there, but photos cannot be posted from one's PC... So, I posted on General (here) to show the logo.
The security would be provided for those at the beach (La Bocana). La Lobera is on private land... and as I mentioned already, has a caretaker...
'Hernan Cortes' who will collect the $7 (70 pesos) and keeps the area clean.
It will not be lobster season during the festival, but it is possible other forms of sea food can be served there... Antonio was to talk with the
owner of La Lobera about it.

Okay, I just got off the phone with Antonio... He is leaving for Rosario again tomorrow, having just returned a couple days ago (to Tijuana).
He will try and get online tonight to field some of your questions. Those who have emailed for event reservations (festival@bajacactus.com) will get
official confirmation next week (Wed.?) with room #, etc.
The Sinahi (Sinai) has 30+ R.V. spaces with full hook ups, and only 2 are reserved so far...
LA LOBERA NEWS!: Do not plan on camping there until Antonio gets an okay from the owner 'Jimmy'... Antonio has not seen him recently. And even though
'Hernan Cortes' welcomed us, he is not the owner... We do have permission to visit there for a day trip tour, however... But, let's wait until Antonio
gets an okay from Jimmy for over-nighting.

NEW La Lobera News!!!
I have been emailing with Rob, who is an onsite manager for Diamante Del Mar, and he offered to contact Jimmy (the owner of La Lobera) about camping
and meals there...
With his permission here is the email note:
David, I talked to Martin, who is Jimmy's partner and he said no problem. The only thing he needs to know is about how many people will be there, so
he can have food for the restaurant. I told him people would probably want coffee and breakfast stuff in the morning and then probably dinner stuff.
Let me know an approximate head count and I will get that info to him..
