The photo was taken with a telephoto lens from a distance. We were bombing around a corner and there it was. We stopped and I got off two shots before the deer bounded into the desert. It looked pretty fat and healthy and about the same size as the ones we see in San Diego county, about 4-5 feet tall.

Matt, what part of Baja was this? Looks like maybe the El Arco/San Francisquito road...?

The back road north from Vizacaino to Francisquito right around the state line. Nice road. Barb loved it, she drove the whole way to Bahia de Los Angeles.

I just checked, and gatoloco is no longer on the baord, so let me assist...
the south end of that route is about 6 1/2 miles north from Vizcaino (the signed road for Guillermo Prieto). This road then goes from Guillermo Prieto north to the state border (a sign saying the time zone change was what marked the line, when I was there)... it continues on to cross over the road between El Arco and Santa Gertrudis and then follows Arroyo Purificacion to intersect with the El Arco/ San Francisquito road... I have the GPS for the route in my web site, in my GPS web page: http://community-2.webtv.net/thebaja/bajagpslist/
