All the more reason not to return to the USA.

We had been on the road since mid December 1999. We would celebrate Christmas, New Years and our daughters second birthday in Mexico.

Redding where we started. Left in the drizzle, watched coyotes trot across the snow covered meadows out side of Susanville.

Reno where we did a little gambling and the kids had fun at Circus-Circus.

Tonopah where we "Blew past!" a police officer (in his words) who was kind enough not to issue a ticket to us on the condition that we spend the night in his town. Well, it is the desert and we were doing 35 mph!

Las Vegas where we stayed even longer at a Circus-Circus for everyone's enjoyment. Checked out the cool casino's and did some laundry.

Some small town in Utah where it was freezing cold and a rock chip developed into a crack and swept across the windshield. With a side detour to the North Rim where we were able to see Black and White squirrels not to mention the Grand Canyon itself.

Page, where we enjoyed the desert, the Vermillion Cliffs, the Dam and Lake Powell. Plus the high desert and northern Arizona, even saw dinosaur tracks in the rocks guided by a toothless indian.

Flagstaff, where we help an older couple with an overheating problem on the way from their home in Chicago to Pheonix. Can never forget the Mogollon Rim, a must see in itself. Not to mention we had been "Standing on a corner in WInslow, Az."

Phoenix where Justin went swimming and decided to steal a toy from the store after his mom said she would not buy one for him. Boy, was that a bad move on his part! Drove around my old stomping grounds checking out the Christmas lights. Then the memorable drive and view from South mountains late that night.

Yuma where it was hot and we stayed because it was on the way. Plus there is some neat desert driving around there. We where on the way to Baja and it was to be our last night for a month in the US of A.

San Felipe where Debbie and the children had their first experience with Baja. Camping on a beach south of San Felipe celebrating Christmas.

With detours to Malarrimo where we spent New Years eve with some lobsters from the local fisherman. Upon awaking the next morning went searching for a American radio station to see if the world was still functioning with the arrival of Y2K.:lol:

To many other spots up and down the peninsula including some of the best beachcombing I have ever had north of La Paz and at a spot I really wish to return to.

On to Cabo with a visit to the Cabo Wabo for the Sammy fan amongst us. Then northwards at a pleasant pace enjoying ourselves.

Finally to Tecate where we crossed and to the next McD's for Happy Meals for the children ages 2 (Samantha) and 6 (Justin) where the problem happened.

With our burgers and fries being happily, greedily devoured Justin complains about his Coke. Mom tells him it is fine. He insists that it is not. Mom saying drink it, Justin saying yuck. Mom insisting that it just taste different because it is the USA and not Mexican soda. Justin just as firmly saying it tastes bad!

With mom at wits end she asks Justin for his soda so that she can try it. Justin is saying that she won't like it. Mom takes a sip and almost gags. Justin tells her "I told you so!". Mom opening the lid to find out why it tastes so bad. Justin still saying 'I told you it tasted terrible!'. Mom finds Justin had shoved a handful of his french fries into it to see what it would taste like!!!!!

it seems like you had a lot more fun in the US than you did in Baja Ca. or am I getting the wrong message from your report?

Bruce

We had lots of fun and many adventures in Baja but this post was to be 'short' and all that we saw and did in Baja on that trip would take many more pages to tell.
