The virtues of a Baja addiction

Here is another deep subject for seriously involved BajaNomads.

The question is:

Has Baja and it's people brought you to feel "virtuous" by way of cultural and social exposure.

Do you feel "blessed" with the garnered volumes of data related to your experiences and information that is embedded forever in your head?

I for one have this Baja pilot light, if it were, and I like to crank the thermostat up when I go to Baja. I mean, I pay more interest and attention to everthing. More so than traveling the roads north of the border.

I can't say because not living there full time if the thrill fades away. I always feel motivated when Iam there though.

Listening to you permanent dwellers makes one believe, at least in this audience, that the stimulus and intrest level remains high living there.
I lived in a remote village on a beautiful island and enjoyed it very much but after a few years something called "island fever " takes hold. And when you work there you loose perspective sometimes.
I don't see that in this forum.
So, does one gain greater virtuousness living or even visiting many times?
I believe that folks as ourselves do have something to give back to society. The unconditional love some show with their commitments to helping the people of Baja is a true testimony to this.
Why is it so hard and obscure in the U.S.
So much trust has been lost through second and third party charities and donations that the rewards are foggy, obscured and a heavy air of mistrust exists.
I know who I blame.
It seems so perfect to just "deliver" the goods and help. It must make a person feel very good to see it go exactly where it belongs.

As a "self centered delivery guy"

according to the chicken coop group, I'm just in it for the tamales and enchiladas I get in return!

There are so many different cultures here and so many different lifestyles, just from the natives alone, that it would be hard to get tired of any part of it, if you deal with both mountain and beach communities.

As far as being blessed, I felt more virtuous when we stole a car in Brunei and didn't get caught.

I was humbled yesterday.....
It's been really hot so I pulled out the Zodiak and associated gear to go cool off in the lake. As I was setting up near the water, I found about a cup of real Baja sand in the dry bag and another bit in the botton of the boat. I'm such a ninny, I saved it in a McD'd cup for future use .
Why I have this compunction towards Baja, one can only guess; but when I considered the event later, I realized how Baja and all my experiences humble me each time I go down. I'd say I feel lucky, not virtuous !!

Baja just makes feel good.

Better return the sand, this board is watched and they may want to collect the SAND TAX for exporting and importating sand, in particulay sand from Baja.

No comment about DK; I don't want this post to turn into a lemon. Can't ask his wife and his angel is too nice to tell the nasty truth ! Just kidding David !!
