Beach camping Rosarito - Theft Report

Hi all, just back from a 4 day weekend near Rosarito. We stayed on the bluffs above the ocean between Bobby's and Raul's three miles South of Las Rocas where our friends got married on Saturday. The entire trip was great up until we returned from the wedding Saturday night around 11pm. There were some people parked very close to our camp site burning a fire and playing the local Baja music. My wife and I were well wiped out from the nights drinking activities and went to bed. Next morning my wetsuit and a Costco Stainless Steel BBQ set were GONE! We searched the trailer and looked around but no luck. BUMMER!

I can't remember any time in the past when I have been ripped off! But this is also the FIRST time we have gone WITHOUT our trusty watch dogs. We didn't want to deal with the extra room lost as we brought another friend and her daughter so they could watch our daughter while we were at the wedding. Live and learn I guess.

When I say I can't remember ever being ripped off in the past, this is after 20 years of Baja travel, one three month stretch in an 8 ft camper and more fly down and backs than I can count. Maybe it was just my time.

As to the folks that will say "Baja is bad news - you got what Baja delivers..." All I can say is where else can I camp 15 feet from the beach, stay for under $10 a day, light fireworks all night long if I wish, play my music as I please, and...oh yeah, ride my dirt bike up the beach to a resort and have the guards watch it while I throw back a few cold ones?!?!

No Bad Days....Tim.

Bummer Tim

That spot is famous for theft. The theives walk up the beach from Puerto Nuevo and help themselves.
My cousin stays there plenty and last time we were not 100 ft. from his motorhome talking. When we went back to the MOho, there were wet footprints going into the moho. He thought his daughter went in with wet feet but she denied it. We then realized that his phone, sunglasses and I don't remember what else was gone.
Since it is such a common occurance there, we could probably set up the thieves if anyone would be interested in a little revenge.

Sounds like fun. I could contribute an immediate police response since all the Primo Tapia brigade are (bought and paid for) friends of mine.;D

They hate petty criminals and justice would be on the spot. You could even watch...If you enjoy that sort of thing.

I was thinking

that justice would be served right before the police got there! But, if they are your friends, we should let them have some enjoyment as well, long as they aren't related to the "victims".

I am serious about this. We could actually do something.:fire:
