La Barca Tales Part I

About 10 years ago, we moved to a little Mexican community just south of Rosarito. There had been a number of gringos that had lived in this community of about 30 casas before us, but they moved for whatever reasons.

We spent some time in Rosarito prior to moving here and our friends here (Mexicans) advised us against moving to La Barca because the family that owns the land have some "issues".:lol::lol:

We ignored our friends advice and chose La Barca over all the pink communities and other options because it has the best beach, most of the places were vacant, and it was mostly Mexican then. It is also only 1/2 hour to the border, Jack in the Walmart, etc..

So, we lived here for 6 or 8 years with the usual rip-offs, murders, lobster delivery on weekends, spearfishing championships amongst the locals, (I held the record for lenguado 4 years in a row!) right Armando? And a pretty tranquillo neighborhood with an awesome view.

2 or 3 years ago, this bar owner from El Monte heard about this place and bought a trailer here. The next thing we knew, all his clients, relatives, friends, mother's, uncles, had rented all the houses here.

Now, this wouldn't have been so bad except, the minute they started arriving, they were "letting us know" but "don't say anything" about each other.:barf:

They would invite us to parties, dinners, drunks, but if we went to one, whoever was the butt of their gossip that week would get mad because we went to one or the other of their loud drunken parties instead of theirs.

So my solution was, flock em, we won't go to any of their parties which were too loud anyway. Resort community where they come down to get drunk on the weekends!

Guess who they had to gossip about then? Those snobby people that won't go to any of our parties!:lol::lol: But, we do enjoy our real neighbors, who live here full time, have great parties, speak Spanish, and have nothing to do with the riff raff norte americanos other than collecting the rent and are actually a part of the community and have lived here for some time.

Obviously, the bar owner was in charge of knowledge as he was the first one of them here and didn't hesitate to let every one know that whatever they need, he knows how to deal with it.:lol::lol:

This was cool because it provided great entertainment and kept us from being bothered much. Until, the leader of the group had made so many mistakes, (I've saved his life twice), that even his cohorts started to wonder about his "knowledge".

Then, a loud mouthed, chicano who happens to be a camera man in hollywood buys a place here. This guy and his playdoh looking wife baffled the heck out of these neighbors and started changing La Barca by putting up gates to keep the locals out, starting a homeowners association, excluding the locals and those of us who live here full time, and harassing people who parked in front of their houses.:lol:

To be continued.
