I enjoy the BBS on the MexOnline web site (link below). Although it doesn't specifically target mainland Mexico, a lot of the discussion, including feedback from long-term residents, seems to involve the states of Michoacan, Jalisco, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and the D.F. metro area.

Try: http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com (Mexico branch)
However, do a search for your subject matter before you post a question.

Mexconnect (before it went subscription) was the best. I don't know what it's like now 'cause I won't pay to join. ($2.50 per month)

I also used to frequent Mexconnect but quit going there some time ago- long before they started charging. There was good info to be found, particularly from the lady lawyer in Morelia, occasionally from David Eidell and other "old hands". BUT, the moderators exercised very strong censorship of any criticism of the Mexican government or any segment of the tourist industry. As I recall, the wife of a tourist guide who had been badly beaten by employees of Mr. Frog's in Cancun,* was trying to find witnesses. She used her real name, answered all questions in a straightforward manner and appeared to me, at least, to be entirely sincere and credible. But, they weren't having any of that, so any time any discussion of the matter arose it got zapped. That's when I said goodbye and never went back.

*in a case of mistaken identity
