I was at Bow Willow
in Borrego. Got blown out on Saturday around noon and joined the procession leaving Ocotillo Wells, Algodones Dunes and Glamis. Boy, it must have been
nasty in any dune area on Saturday.
Sorry, no winter Mexico trips for me, yet. Hopefully going to the La Mision area in early December.

I, like Hook, was in the local desert this past Turkey Day Weekend, down near the Salton Sea where the wind was not nearly as bad as Ocotillo Wells.
In fact, we stayed through 'til Sunday and had a very pleasent drive home. Very little wind and even less traffic due to everyone bailing out early on
Saturday.
Wish I could have been in Baja! Maybe a trip in late December.

We too left home for a place far away, where the children played and laughed and sang the songs of hope and friendship. A place of warmth and shining
light. Tales of the past were traded so they were not lost to the future. Food was plenty and drinks overflowing. Into the night the stars were bright
and soon we were a sleep to dream of the many good things that happened that day. We woke to the sun to start a fresh the wonderful happenings of the
day gone past.
It was not in Baja but with our daughter and her family.

David and all, we were the group of Bikes at Baja Cactus. I just got back to thr real world and will post a trip report when I get my notes together.
We did make it over Bill Nichols trail from Puertecitos to Catavina. Also followed th 1k course over the summit the day before.

Fantastic! I mention your group in another post... Tell any of your friends to email me if they didn't get a 'got baja?' sticker... I only had three
in my glove box to give you... and I think there were at least 6 in your group.
I am very anxious to read about the Bill Nichols trail, as I know other Nomads are... including Corky, BillB, McGyver, TW, etc.
Folks, the 'Bill Nichols' trail is for m/c riders only, and is a route across Baja that avoids pavement. It begins south of Puertecitos and I heard
can actually be followed to San Quintin! Kacey Smith (the Baja GPS Guide lady) will have it in her second edition (we have been waiting years for).
Another Bill Nichols trail goes from Hwy. 1 at El Crucero (so. of Calamajue) to L.A. Bay without using any of the paved road... so I have heard!

if you could've seen vale Chico on saturday, it was a gigantic sand storm, blowing clouds of dust all the way to Picacho del Diablo summit!!

When I saw how far back the line was at Tecate on Sunday afternoon, I feared the worst... I was pleasantly surprised when it took us 'just' 95
minutes. I have waited longer in much shorter lines, in the past.

here's my solution to those ridiculous border wait lines:
get a pair of those cheap GMRS walkie talkies
before you get in line find a clean looking kid or young adult and offer him 10 bucks to start and another 10 when he gets to the end or close to it.
he calls you with a 10 minute lead and you leave the closest bar/rest. pay him and jump in.

hey tim got your message and congrads. i wear coveralls snow boots and thinsulat gloves along with a face mask. we ride quads in the snow alot and
need to be warm. will be down to my stomping grounds in a few weeks. heading to the cabin again and picking up a new gun in exeter(won in a contest)
wich should take care of any bears that may try to spend the night. ill call you tomorrow(sat)
