Need help to help the hearing impaired in Baja

Heres the deal;

My brother and I will be driving down to L.B med jan (his first time, my ninth time) to a friends casa. I like to think my cup is half full but when in Baja it seems to overflow. I have always wanted to do something for the kindest people I have ever met in my worldly travels. I called my brother today and asked him what he does with the old hearing aids his customers turn in when they upgrade (my brother has a hearing aid service in redding cal)

He said that he did not have that many, why? I said that it would be nice to give the gift of hearing to some folks who could never afford them down there. He was quit for a moment then said hell yes, we should work on this and make it happen. He would start calling around for more used aids and I was to find the target to do this at.

Thats where I need some help He can test, fit and mold for each person every two hours. If its around L.B my son who works for my brother will be flying down to met us for four days. Then they can cut that time in half and do about eight to ten a day. The other problem is they do not speak any Spanish and would need translators. if we do it on the way back up the hill some where else the I can help a little but not much..

We will (my brother and I) be in Baja for two weeks including traveling. I would like to turn this into something more then a one time offer. I know that my brother who has a big heart will want the same.

My brother wears two hearing aids and loves helping other with their disability, I can't wait to see the look on his face after a day of helping these wonderful and kind folks from my favorite place on earth.

Please help us make this happen.

Maybe explain where 'L.B' is to some Nomads here wanting to assist. I am guessing it stands for Los Barriles or La Baja ??:D

I suggest you contact the local Rotary club nearest to where you cross. The following may help. No need to re-invent the wheel. These people would probably appreciate the help and/or direct you to where the need has not as yet been addressed.

Thanks for the advice!

Yes Dave Los Barriles is where we are headed, sorry about that.

Thank you Oso I have heard the Baja has rotarys in some of the larger towns in Baja thanks for the links.

And thank you BajaVida, fly drive or bike in (we'll have are dirtbikes with us just kidding), don't care how we get there.

Sorry for getting a little excited about this but my brother sets/sat on a board that helps set the stanards for the hearing inpaired world wide, so his network is larger then most in the biz.

I'm sure there are others doing this already, Don't want to re-invent anything, just offer the help.
