Buying a brand new Vehicle in Baja

I'd like to explore the idea of buying a new Nissan Urvan to keep in Baja. There is a Nissan dealer in TJ and another one in La Paz (and I think Los Cabos) where I could pick one up. Does anyone on the board have experience purchasing a new car in Baja from a dealer or have a link you could provide here for information? Could I bring it up to California for a week/month with proper insurance? I'm just starting to look, so any help would be appreciated!

just walk in with cash and you will be driving it out very fast. you must licence it where you buy it and it cant be exported to the U.S. but you can drive it in with proper insurance.

I don't know what the import duty is into Mexico on Japanese made vehicles. Could be you'd pay more than you would for something in the States. Also, they probably do not meet the same safety standards as a US version. I was told the old VW buses that you could buy in Mexico didn't even have safety glass. I don't know if that was true or not, but it's something to check out before you buy.
