Puerto Penasco

Hola Nomads:
I have a chance to go to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point). It's not Baja, but at least it's Mexico. Anyone spent any time there? Is it worth the trip? The drive from Phoenix looks like about 4 hours. Is this one you'd want to take during the daytime?

Roger,
i am flying over there this friday just for a few hours on business.

call me, i can fill you in.
started going there in 1974 spring breaks, was fun then but now its all condos and gringos and gotten expensive!!.
we discovered baja in 1980 and said bye bye to RP except only occaisionally when friends invite us down to their homes there.

But now that our airpark development is becoming the "sister" airport to the new jetport the Mayan Palace people are building at RP we'll end up there more often i guess, quickie weekends as its only an hour flight.
Being from PHX metro i could never get to baja often by road so wouldn't have gone much am sure, the drive to the good places frankly takes too long even from socal (IMHO), i hate long trips by auto - well, yes have gotten spoiled by access to time machines/light aircraft.

anyway if you want to go get a holt of me, all the contact is on my web site.

If you enjoy Baja you should have no problems enjoying Puerto Penasco. I've been there several times for the Whiplash off-road races and enjoyed it each time. Good food friendly people and interesting sites.
