New DL requirements in Rosarito!
The Rosarito DMV is now requiring a physical exam when renewing your DL.
I am happy to report that I am in excellent health!
Questions:
What is your age?
Blood type?
Have you had surgery in the last six months?
Can you read, (pointing to a LARGE eye chart on the wall less than four feet from my chair) line six?
Are you sick? (I lied )
Do you have 80 pesos?

No, and the only reason to get a Mexican drivers license is if your car has Mexican plates. [Imported or purchased in Mexico.]

The test was to open your wallet. If you could remove 424 pesos...You passed.

Not to worry. I didn't actually have to read line six. The nurse just wanted to know if I could.

Several years ago, I took a friend to the police station to get a licence. Told him all he needed was 3 pictures and ( than ) 12 dollars. However the
cop on duty said there was a written test now. The friend said he couldn't read spanish, upon which the cop grabbed the test out of his hand, sat
behind a desk and completed it. Took a big stamp passed, held out his hand for the 12 bucks, gave the info to a typist and 10 minutes later my friend
was the proud owner of a chauffeurs licence, which also allows him to drive trucks. Go figure !!

I got my Mexican drivers license about 3 months back. I also had to get a physical from a doctor. I went to the Red Cross, but the Doctor was not
there. I was sent to his private office with a letter from the Red Cross for him to sign, saying I was healthy enough to drive. When we got to his
office he asked me if I was healthy and I said I felt fine. He asked what my blod type was and I said I didn't know and he made a note on the paper
that it was a secret.
At The office where we got the license everything went very smooth. The test was on a touch screen computer and the friend I had taken to translate
for me knew everyone in the office. My friend read the questions and without doing any translating he picked the answers. I had to stop him once
because I was pretty sure he had picked the wrong answer.
He only got a 74 on the test but it was good enough for me to pass.
In three more years I will return with someone else that is smart enough to get me a chauffeurs licence.

Pretty funny, rather than note "unknown" or "not available" the doctor would document that your blood type was a "secret" !
Could be he was preserving your Patient Confidentiality.

I see someone bothered to connect the dots.
I love to joke about stuff like this but:
If I didn't have to take a serious physical or pass a drivers test then neither did anyone else.
<Sure are a lot of crosses decorating the sides of the roads.>
