baja bush pilots yearly cenam bash loses one.

sad day for all who love flying adventures....

http://insidecostarica.com/dailynews/2006/january/18/nac01.h...

also notes on the BBP site.

guess when its your time.....it is.

BTW, for all the group trips the BBP has run over the years their overall record vs the logistics required to organize a gaggle around centro america, baja , alaska et al is.....mostly spotless and without blemish. its quite a feat actually.

Sad news, Mike...I hope the couple's family members will have a simple job of getting their remains home in a timely fashion.

Looks like a Bonanza ...nicknamed 'V-tailed Doctor Killers' for a good reason, don't you think?

Let us not Assume until the Facts are Known!
However since I worked on the "doctors Syndrone" so many years ago, it is very likely that this is another case of 'doctors Sydrone!

As doctors are trained in the Medical colleges, that they never make Mistakes and when they do make a Mistake, they are not to Admit it{due to the many Mal-Practice suits} when it comes to flying a V-Tail there minds , many times tell them that their Decisions are Correct
at all times, when in Fact it is not the Safe and correct thing to Do

More information can be obtained in the Archives of the National Safety Board Accident Reports between 1965 through 1972!

V-Tail with Doctor as Pilot taking off from Tahoe
V-Tail with Doctor atempting to land at Lodi Calif.
V-Tail with doctor attempting to cross sierras in Bad Weather over Reno .Nevada_Wings came off!

and many others I personally investigated as an Air Safety Investigator.

Bruce:The V-Tail is an excellent Aircraft if Flown and operated by a Qualified Pilot!
If I may be permitted- A short Story about the Aircraft-If YAWL get tired of my Short Stories Please let me know!!

On a beautifull Day in Portland Oregon, a 75 Hour V-Tail Pilot took his Girl Friend for a Ride{His wife later found Out} over Mt. Hood, which had a Layer of Clouds near its Top.
Said Pilot pulled up into the Clouds, got Vertigo, lost control! The Aircraft lost its {Rudderivators} or V-Tail, spun downward inverted, as it descended the negative forces dislodged the engine from the Aircraft at about the 6000 Ft. level!
Said Aircraft Foated into the Top of the Tree, The Pilot reached over and released the Seatbelt of his passenger who fell out of the Seat and hit her head .{The Only Injury in the Accident}. The Aircraft had landed near an old Logging road where the Pilot walked a short distance and found help.

When I took this Pilots Statement he Quoted" I prayed to God to Save us"!
This brought forth the same type of situtation that had happened to me in a Cessna 140 Several years previous over Livermore Pass .

Moral of this Story:
Never climb into the clouds with only 75 Hours flying time in a V-Tail!
Take your wife!
Have Faith in God!
