We seem to attract the guy who recently inherited his grandma's vintage LTD and decides to take it on an adventure down the peninsula. You can usually
see him coming from off in the distance- the sparks coming from his dragging muffler hitting rocks on the way down the dirt road are a clue.
Always a very friendly chap, and he'll decide to pull right next to us on the deserted beach.
Soon we'll discover that he has no sunshade, is out of water, brought no sunscreen or bug spray, doesn't have an ice chest let alone any beer, has no
chair to sit on at his "camp", and "boy your coffee sure smells good" in the morning.

the worst is when people roll up
next to your campsite and start playing board games, nothing more annoying than that

You guys crack me up... Go to Shell Island or some place you really need 4WD and deflated tires to go to!
I have camped there when Hotschott and his wife were there... and we do dinners together and have fun... but my camp is over a sand dune and 300' away
to allow them privacy. That seems natural to me... we go to Baja to get away from the crowds...
At our Matomi Gang reunion where we all camped at Nuevo Mazatlan, we each were in seperate camping spaces, but got together around one big campfire...
Same was true of M's BBBB camping fiestas.
It seems we Nomads understand the 'rules' naturally... about space between campsites!

It's not that I don't like meeting other people, it is that some don't seem to have any problem crowding in right on top of my camp without even
asking when there is plenty of space for them to camp just over there a bit. I have met many nice people camping on Baha's beaches.

wrong!! |
Clarification- We saw that you were breaking camp and figured we better get to town while there was still some beer left at the mercado. Admittedly a
bit of an overreaction but better safe then sorry.
We do regret that we did not come over and say hola.
Next time!

Once Gecko was packed (Spring Break) so Mary Ann, David K, and I planted our tents wayyyyyy south of camp in the dunes. I set up my tent aways away
from them (they both snore!) I wake up to his horrible snoring! (WHAT THE HE%^%$*!!!) I thought I'd moved far enough away! I get up in the morning
and find some strange man, all alone, with his tent not 5ft. from mine! What's up with that!!! I didn't invite him for tea and he didn't stay long. Could it have been the "unhappy camper" look on my face?

man, I been outta town (actually in another civilization- Dallas) for a few days and Baja Vida told me to check out this thread.
Matt (Gato) you must remember that we fired a rocket or two your way, just to try and get your attention, never did understand why you took offense to
our aerial bombardment of your camp...
and, as to running out of beer.... Baja Vida (a.k.a. El Commandante) requires each member of the Baja Boyz to bring two cases of road beer from home,
then we buy two cases per member in Maneadero.... and we try to bring at least one case of wine per member. we seldom run out, although sometimes we
have to resupply en route home in Ensenada.
and I don't even drink that much......

Last year, at Los Frailes, I had a big yellow schoolbus full of young surfers from California camp right next to me. They were actually pretty nice
guys and didn't make too much noise, but they were a little too close for the size of their group. Los Frailes is not a deserted beache by any means,
but there is still no reason to pull in within 20 feet of another camper. Luckly, they were headed for Los Cerritos and only stayed a few days at Los
Frailes.
There is another group of kids from No. Cal. who have been coming the last two years. They are very loud and don't respect anybody else's peace &
quiet. They camped in the trees on the north end of the beach where many retired and older Canadians camp and caused quite an uproar with their loud
rap music. They are young and wonder why no one seemed like them. People generally are camped at Los Frailes for the fishing and wake up early to be
on the water at sun up, so they go to bed early (Baja Midnight is 9 pm. Last year those kids stayed at the rental house south of the hotel, but they
rented ATV's and ran them all over the beach, between & through peoples camps. That's about the time I headed north.
