What a great opportunity folks!

Baja Bucko is the lady who has been riding muleback on sections of the El Camino Real each year!

She is a Baja history buff with roots in Baja... the mission visita of San Telmo!

I met Bucko, her husband and sons in 2001. I delivered some fishing gear prepared for her son to fish from kayaks with, from Whistler...

Neal Johns has already assigned here a WiW # I believe! Neal noted thet Bucko and I both had articles in the same issue of the Mexico West newsletter from about 1982!

"[Baja Bucko is the lady who has been riding muleback on sections of the El Camino Real each year!]"

Why would anyone want to ride a mule over such a rough and tough terrain and sleep on the ground with bugs, snakes and scorpions and eat tree leaves and weed bark and drink from streams with all kinds of things in it? On the other hand, it sounds exciting.

Yes Bucko, you made that clear... TW admires your mule rides on the ECR, that most of us are aware of thanks to your posts on Fred's board, Neal Johns, and maybe me just a bit...

Such synchronicity! The toddlers, spouse, and I are doing the same. Leave Long Beach on March 16, head to San Ignacio, Laguna San Ignacio, Bahia Concepcion, and back on or before April 7. Our Subaru will be packed to the gills.

We use to do the SAME thing with two small boys. My boys went to Baja every year for their first 17 years for part of the winter-spring. My oldest who is now 21 and at CalPoly remarked at age 10-"WHY couldn't I have been born into a NORMAL family????" He now so misses our explorations in Baja but college is taking his time.

The number 2 son turned 18 yesterday and I am afraid he will never go camping again. He over the years developed a preference for indoor plumbing and he had too many up-clos-and-personal close encounters w rattlesnakes. I can see him NOT taking his kids camping if he ever has any. At least he HAD all those years of experiences and has so many stories to tell his kids AFTER he gets out of grad school.

Speaking of school-we homeschooled our boys so that a school year never interferred w Baja trips. Got a better education then we could ever have expected. BUT when we look back and remember all those times traveling in Baja w little guys.....god, WHAT were we thinking?????:lol::bounce::bounce:

Hay-JimQPublic...we will be putting in our sailboat at the Alamitos Marina abt March 13...maybe we could all meet for lunch in Long Beach before we all go our ways south?
