Para-sailing on the beach in Mexico

Several years ago we took a canned vacation to Puerto Vallarta. While on the beach we watched as people took Para-sailing rides around the bay being towed by a small boat. It looked like fun, but I couldn't help but notice that when the parachute was not being used it was just left to lay there on the beach spread out in the sun.

Knowing what the sun does to nylon, and not knowing just how old that parachute was I was thinking that those people were really taking their lives in there hands. Especially considering there is probably no one who ever checks up on these operations or forces them to change parachutes occasionally.

They might still be using the same parachute today.
