This is a view from a trail that appears to be used by some kind of horsey/donkey critters. I can't say I know much about those things. Or are you talking about some kind of infernal combustion things? Below is Ligui Canyon, I think. The trailhead is reached by a road starting at a big hiway turnout just south of Ligui. Looks like this trail gets regular use and goes way back into the mountains. After the summer weather cools my wife and I want to go farther back.

There are tourist services here that arrange riding trips. Try this:

I'm only familiar with the Baja 1000 race course which is run on the dirt road that passes by San Javier. I don't have a Baja Almanac with me but I'm sure there are trails shown in it that would be interesting to explore.

Pages 43 and 44 of the Baja Almanac show a series of dirt roads and 4WD trails which snake around and back into the Sierra La Giganta. I have been told by friends Andrew and Gretchen that the trails inland of Loreto were very scenic. Maybe one day, I'll get to check them out...

Baja 1000


Look for the Baja 1000 to come out of the moutains this year, and come close to Loreto..then back up the San Javier trial to La Paz.. (Just a Rumor;D)
