Sunday Border Crossing

Northbound, We arrived at Garita Oriente, Mexicali 1407 hours. The line extended about two blocks East and West of the entrance. Police on duty directing traffic in. Arrived at the U.S. kiosk 1505 hours. Perfunctory questions, waved through. Total wait time 58 minutes.

Added to that was the 40 minutes waiting in line at the El Chinero Army checkpoint North of San Felipe.

I had anticipated that the Sunday traffic might be lighter because the Cinco de Mayo weekend was basically a no-show in San Felipe and points south, but such was not the case.

ALL Gasoline stations from San Felipe through Mexicali were open with no lines.

Border doesn't seem too bad for a sunday afternoon....but an extra 40 minutes for the army checkpoint is a bit too much.....

I waited in line at the new crossing(Mexicali) on Sunday at 1:00pm. An hour and 15 minutes and the line was getting longer.

Just the Facts, Ma'am

In this case, I guess, the one hour later that I arrived saved me 15 minutes. You never can tell.

This has become typical lately. I cross about 7 pm and the lines are getting longer and longer every sunday. The three poles checkpoint is hit and miss for the lines. I was told about long lines in Mexicalli one evening, when to Los Algodones and waited for two hours.

Got there around 6:30 and got through in 20 minutes, and I was in a slow lane.

No wait at the military checkpoint at all.
