Fuel prices for June 2006.
Hi everyone, these are the fuel prices for the current month (only after 20km south of border with the US):
Magna.............$ 6.31 pesos per liter
Premium..........$ 7.45 pesos per liter
Diesel..............$ 5.18 pesos per liter
These prices are in liters, and 1 gallon = 3.7854 liters.
Today (June 1st) 1 dollar = $ 10.80 pesos (+/-)
Using the previous information, this is what we have....
Magna............$ 2.211 dollars per gallon
Premium.........$ 2.611 dollars per gallon
Diesel.............$ 1.815 dollars per gallon
Remember that the fuel prices 20 km along the US border are being locally matched to those in the States, therefore, they are higher than further in
Baja.

Yesterday at Arco in San Marcos (Hwy. 78 and Nordahl) I paid $3.199/ gallon for regular.
I'ld rather be in Baja!

$3.58 in Washington - DOUBLE Baja !
Living in Baja would save me almost $2,000 per vehicle per year, wow.

Where are you getting the conversion rate? Seems to me it's been at
$1 = 11+ pesos for a number of weeks now. In fact, the toll road changed their signs recently....now $2.35 versus $2.40.
Hope you're doing well. And by the way, I don't remember hearing about your vacation.

Antonio, are you telling us that every station more than 20km south of the border must sell gas at the posted price?

Don't you belive in socialism? 
You know, the government and not the free market dictates to private business what is must sell their product for!
Obviously, for some stations to stay in business the 'fixing' of pumps was done. They aren't even allowed to provide mechanical service like in the
U.S. for more income.

Prices...
Zac...We had a wonderful relaxing time in Bahia Concepcion.... unfortunately we were there only for a week, since I had many things pending back at
BajaCactus.
Thanks to Bob and Susan, we had a very comfty cabin at Playa Fambres waiting for us, we stayed there the first night... but the next day, my sisters
in law (who came along with us), wanted to move to a place with more sandy beaches, because of their children... so we moved to Los Cocos, further
south.
It was a very nice and weather was just perfect... I was able to enjoy my wife and baby girl a lot!!!... thanks for asking.
Now... regarding the dollar conversion rate... this changes every day... and even though the bank sets the base, it is different depending on local
offer and demand... so, usually, I look around at the real "street rates" and that is what I post, however the next day could be very different. This
is why I always post the fuel prices in pesos first.
Now, Dave... yes...gasoline and diesel prices are the same all over Mexico (only the TAX changes)... EVERY gas station must comply with the price set
by the government... however, along the border with the United States... within a 20 km zone, every tuesday, prices are adjusted to match the fuel
prices in the States. This is done locally in every city by a special comission.
