New Campground in La Playita.

On the new oceanfront road just past the lighthouse, there is a new campground. It is on the property of Antonio, whom some of you may know from the fish palapas. The property is owned by his family and he is trying to keep it out of the clutches of the marina. I dont know what facilities he has, although it looks like he has started some showers. The good news is that it is right on the beach. I would guess that it is not expensive. I have seen several van campers there and a friend has his RV parked there. Antonio is a nice man and from what I have heard easy to deal with. With the shrinking number of RV parks especially on the beach, I thought that someone might like to have this information..Surfer Jim?

Yes it is. And it looks like everything fared pretty well at the campground through Emilia.
As of my last visit(about 3 weeks ago) there was a toilet and a shower. Antonio told me that, by Dec., he hopes to have full hookups. He also told me that all but one of the ocean front spaces had been rented(long term only)
It is a great location but very primitive.
I will keep you rv-ers and campers posted as things change there. A friend of mine is thinking about a year lease, which will guarantee him a space up front. Will let you know how that plays out:yes:

Judy, did John have any effect on the campground? Is it still in operation?

Hook
Before the hurricane(John), they had piled up on their side of the arroyo, not exagerating, at least three stories of sludge. One of the biggest deposits from the marina. When riding down the arroyo, you looked up to this wall of gray sludge. Antonio's campground is on the opposite side. Well guess what. That wall of sludge is now in the arroyo and you look about eye level to the sludge. All it did to the campground was make it closer to ground level. Although I havent spoken to him, I doubt there were any problems there. That said, it doesnt look like he has done much in the way of services. If you are interested in staying there, please let me know and I will see "que pasa"
