Northern Cat Houses
Since we thoroughly and properly vetted that subject in BCS it is time to turn Northward for more reminiscences.
Many years ago my compadre and I were headed through the US gate at Mexicali and lamented to the U.S. officer who was checking us through as to the
lack of "lovely available young ladies" on the Mexicali scene.
"Have you visited the El Ranch Motel?" he inquired.
So, with some brief directions in hand we did a quick U-turn, drove back into the middle of town, over the bridge, and there under the bridge, indeed,
was the aforementioned establishment.
Cozy little bar area, lovely 'hostesses' to attend to your thirst, etc. A good time was had by all. Cold brews, and all you had to do was buy the
girls a drink (ice tea, no doubt) and the evening was underway. Obviously extra service was extra cost.
Over the years it became a bit of a "tour spot" for me to take various visitors that had never experienced all the wonders of Baja.
Wonder if it still exists, never had the nerve to take my wife past there and check it out.

I remember a place like that in the early 60's. I thought it was a little ways out of town and I don't remember a bridge, but that was a long time ago.
The hot spot 15yr's ago was the Hotel Rubi.
Nothing beats in the 60's Campo Siete in Mazatlan WOW! A little
nostalgia from a old married man.
