I understand the supposed sarcasm in the cartoon, but guess what?
Most of it is true.
1. A child born of a foreigner on Mexican soil is a Mexican national, whether his parents were here legally, or not.
2. While there maybe isolated examples, I personally don't know of any IMSS hospital that has refused emergency care to a foreigner, regardless of
financial condition.
3. I don't know why 'Dad' thought it was necessary to get a fake driver's license. I got a legit one without showing my FM, AND insurance verification
was not a requirement.
4. While school curriculum is in Spanish, a fast growing number of students, at least in this part of Mexico, are bilingual.

I hope the Mexican Government continues with the humanitarian services to all. The movie, A Day Without a Mexican turns out to be prophetic. The heat
wave in California has caused much of its produce to spoil because it was exacerbated by a labor shortage caused by our new militant attitude at our
borders.Being the anarchist that I am, I wish that all borders be taken down and let (conservatives love this concept) market forces dictate migration
flow. The bottom line always trumps politics.

I don't know where you got your info but there was no spoilage or labor shortage in this area. Nor am I aware of anywhere else in the San Joaquin
valley.

I was visiting relatives in rural Fresno area last week. Harvest is going as normal there too....primarily peaches, nectarines, plums, melons, and
corn. I have to admit that I overdosed on home made Peach Cobbler......DEEEEELICIOUS. Cotton is in full bloom and the grapes appear to be loving the
hot weather for a September harvest. Because of the hotter than normal weather, some vintners are predicting a banner year for sweet wines and
brandy.

Same can be said for Western Arizona, Mellon crop was banner, just finishing Onions. 3000+ migrents in the McMullen valley and Aguila. It can not be
to hot for the mellon growers and the only thing they fear is rain. The rain wilts the young plants and rots the mellons on the ground. I would
definetly check your facts...

Regarding the California labor shortage coupled with the heat wave, it was reported yesterday morning on a mainstream radio network. The story went on
to predict higher prices in the produce section as a result. However, one cannot always rely on the media these days for the truth. Glad to hear
directly from your areas that it has not been a problem. Sorry to have trended off topic. Guess the title "sense of humour (sic) necessary"
momentarily liberated me.

Toneart todays paper had an AP story about labor shortage from Watsonville about how the increased border security is hurting the farmers not only
there but across the nation. The farmers admit they rely on illegals and now there's not enough of them to pick the crops. One said it was the worse
he's seen in 31 years. They are hoping for a guest-worker program.
