Oasis Rio

Tried to contact Leon Nolet, with no response which is understandable. Is there any word on the conditions at Oasis Rio. How badly did they get hit?

jorge's and oasis - anyplace western parks closer to the town/bridge got the worst of it, it seems. further to the mouth faired better as far as top of water as it moved thru. pictures here and elsewhere show it clearly.
will be substantial cleanup and rebuilding.

This is the text from an e-mail sent by Judy & Bill of the Oasis Park.
--------------------------------------------------------

Hi To All.

were are O K, don't e-mail me as we don't have any
elect, water etc. Go to bajanomad and that will give
you all the info. we ended with 4 ft of water in the
house. sat night it started to heavy and the elect
went out. Gene Lee woke us up around 4 AM and the
water was up to are steps and rising, in about a half
hour water coming in the house, then Gene Judy and I
were out in the road looking for safety, now the water
was up to my chest on the road, we were traped we
could not get out, we thought we get on a roof, but
with 3 old people, dark and raining, that was out
,then we saw Johns boat thought it will float, but the
plug was not in the boat was taking in water and
listing, now the water is up to neck, then i said
Bryan and Lisa have a upstairs bedroom and that's were
spent the night, Bryan and Lisa, thank you, you saved
are lives, around 9 a m the Mexican fire dept. came
and rescued us, we had to wade and swim to the spot
between ours and Johns house and they cut the cyclone
fence and we climbed up to the Mesa's house. now were
on high land. late that afternoon the water went down,
John you got 4 to 5ft in your places, Bryan, 3ft in
the living room. Can,t get into you garage, there
about a foot of mud on the road. Dave the water moved
your trailer a bit the entry door to the house is gone
and lifted your storage shed. there no docks and rock
wall for the docks are also gone. Debbie were going
to try and get out of here Wed, hope to be at your
place Thurs. i too k pics and when i get to Debbies i
will send them out. I am on a friends Satellite
computer and this will be my only message out.

Take care, Judy and Bill

Thanks Art...I talked to Bruce tonight. His phone is working. The news didn't get any better. Found out a good friend of mine is one of the dead. I won't use his name on this fourm because I don't know if his next of kin have been notified. My wife Noel has been crying all day. Damm, life is a b-tch sometimes. To those that are thinking about coming down right now, it might be better to wait for a while till the roads are more passable and your sure that you won't be one more person to take care of when you get there. I want to go as much as the rest of you, but bear in mind that there are few places to stay. A lot of people are homeless and probably using all the hotels in town. Hell I'm probably going to go anyway. Just plan carefully and make sure you'll be of use when you get there, otherwise whats the point. I'm sorry, I'm tired, but not as tired as the people down there.
