Need help finding a Builder in the Todos Santos area

Does anyone know a good builder between La Paz and Cabo who might build in Todos? I'm needing a backup to the guy I'm currently working with.

Not interested in brick or block. Foam looks like it has the R factors I'm looking for.

I need someone who is reliable.

Comitan: who do you know?

What I say before any important decision.
F*ck it.

Lee I am sure someone has told you, but just in case, you are building in a main corridor for hurricanes. Foam????

When I've brought that question up I"m told these type of structures are hurricane proof. Almost. It's not foam on the outside, just the inner portion (core) of the wall with whatever finish on the interior and exterior you want. http://www.doityourself.com/stry/foamcorepanels

You would have to bring up hurricanes. NOT something I would like coming along.

Lee,

as a builder, and a witness to high winds in my part of Baja, pay close attention to how the roof beams and perimeter of the roof are attached.

Strong walls are great, but it's the roofs that take flight when not secured properly in high winds.

Haven't had a bad trip yet....

I have been trying to find this two story house with the roof still on, but the walls of half the house missing. It was a steel frame house. Sorry cannot find it.

Edit: I think it was in La Vantana and John wiped it out.
If the wind can rock it he tinyest bit it (house)won't take long to give up.

house with no walls

The house is in Castillo de Arena. 10 miles south of Cabo Pulmo. I was told that was the second time the walls blew away in a hurricane. Bummer for the owner, it was for sale. He did not build it.

I took that picture and have no idea how it got on the internet! Amazing. There is a foam house in the neighborhood that did just fine. Give me concrete!

I would suggest you ask a whole lot of questions around town. There are three or four very reputable builders who are very busy - for good reason. One or two others who are not so busy for very good reason. Ask anyone you run into for names of people who have built in the last couple of years and how to contact them. This is a very - very small town and word travels fast.
