"Kwanzaa" or "Kwaanza" I believe.

Variations

Thanks for the correction. Kwanzaa seems to be the preferred spelling since that's the way the creator spelled it.

Supposedly, the word comes from Swahili meaning "Fresh Fruits".

The holiday was recently (1966) created by Ron Karenga as an alternative for Africans to Christmas or "Chanukah".

Speaking of the creator, On September 17, 1971, Karenga was sentenced to one to ten years in prison on counts of felonious assault and false imprisonment. The charges stemmed from a May 9, 1970 incident in which Karenga and two others tortured two women who Karenga believed had tried to kill him by placing ‘crystals’ in his food and water.

Obviously, a Major difference is the admonition to "turn the other cheek".

Nonetheless, Happy, Merry, Benevolent, Sacred, Blessed, Prosperous Chanukahchristmaskwanzaanewyears to all.

I would say "Let the airing of grievances begin.", but that goes on in the off-topic forum all year round.

In spite of the absurd claim last year by FOX News Network that there was a war against Christmas, I would like to say to all:Happy Holidays!.

Please, may this be received by everyone on this planet to be all inclusive.:D

Even Usama ?

Actually, given the Diaperheads penchant for Hysterical and Deadly over-reaction, my theory is that the Merchants have been uneasy over wishing someone a "Merry Christmas" because it might be an Usama's Mama who'd pull out a Knife or Gun in reply.
