Hey fishbuck, swell idea...our first fly in clients just took off after they measured the runway here which they raved about...4,805' and super smooth. Jamie is writing a new baja flying book and is researching the strips around here. Her husband found an outrageously huge megaladon fossilized tooth which made him a truly happy man. Pics tomorrow! We have all the gear here including fishing or camping etc. so all ya need is your bathing suit and passport. They cleared customs in San Felipe...they also said if anyone wants info to email them at www.airmech.com.

Great to read... I would like to get that book when it's done...

Galen Hanselman's 1998 book 'Air Baja!' has Bahia Asuncion's runway measured at 4,796' which is only 9 feet shorter than Jamie's... so it seems they pretty much are in agreement.

Ha ha, thanks for the tip Cap. That would have been a little embarrassing. But I would have checked it out. Okay, I guess a we will stop at San Felipe for fuel and AOE. The 182 makes it no problema with more than enough fuel to get back to San Felipe. The 172 is stretching it a little. Maybe we can dump 10 gal of premium in it to get back to San Felipe. I don't know if it has the STC or not. It would be diluted with about 15 gal of 100LL so it should work. Ever tried it?

no, i hold 90 gals and have a load of range at 65% power, my usual setting; 147 kts for 6.5 hours if ever i wanted.

plus i really don't want to risk detonation in my hi comp o-540.
however, in a n emerg, i'd add some pemex hi test and octane boost to one tank and fly it off low altitude before switching over to 100LL.

i just never have placed myself in that dilemma.:O
