Colorado 1/11--Loreto 1/17

:spingrin::spingrin::spingrin::spingrin:
We got here to Loreto shore RV Park last Wed and are lovin it. Yes it's cool some days but we are still in BAJA!!!!!!
As much as we used all the info and help from all you Nomads we feel we should contribute a report fo our trip.
We left Colo Spgs the afternoon of 1/11 and beat that storm by a day (our 4th in 4 weeks).
Stayed in the Wal-Mart at Sante Fe 1/11 and beat it to Yuma nite of 1/12. Got ran outta both Wal Marts there so stayed at a rest stop just into Cali for some much need sleep. Yes I slept well, right on the freeway, as Baja would be in the windshield by noon.:tumble:
Got to the TJ border at 10:30 am and was thru by 10:45 thanks to the nomad that posted the map and where to park. All the guards were freezing and let us thru quickly.
We then decided we would go to San Quitin. The trip thru Ensensda was slow. Did I say slow!!!! Next time we go thru the Marina area.
Stopped at truck stop in the town south of Meandero and had the (wifes first) comida corida, steak rancero. UMMMMMM I am back in the Baja;D
Pulled into the Old Mill RV park just at sunset. The 3 miles of washboard road was hell but what we ended up with was worth every bump and cuss word.
We ate at Don-Edies the first nite and since I had not been back to Baja since 99 we found heaven our first nite. Got a much needed shower and the lobster my wife had was over 2 lbs and cooked perfectly. My seafood platter was to die for and we took the lobster back to the trailer for lobster omelettes the next morning.
Great RV park at Old Mill and good water and all hookups.
Next morning we met a couple of the regulars there and they introduced us to the owner, Dewaye, of Old Mill RV and the resturant. We ate at his place the next nite and it was awesome!!!!!!! We will stay there an extra day on our way up north in March and eat at both places again.
Made Guerro Negro the next afternoon 1/15 and stayed at the RV park right past the imigration and spray station. Had our first c-cktail and it was great and all ingrediants were fresh.
Headed south again 1/16 and made it to Santispec around mid afternoon.
I have to say that we got stalled behind a carravan for 100 miles and they didn't even pull off at Santa Martha and be considerate.
Met a great cpl at Santispec from Washington, and they ended up following us here to Loreto Shores.
The road all the way down was in great shape except:
Some rough road 40 miles south of Guerero Negro for 20 miles.
Some rough road and pot holes north of Santispec.
Lots of pot holes Nopolo to Puerto Escondido.
We are looking forward to contributing to this wonderful site in the next 8 weeks.
The early morning from our beack in Loreto is attched, I hope.

Gotta figure out how to downsize the pic's?
The wind is still howling:no:
Gonna head up to Santispec and hope for some low wind days and get at least get the hookah out and if I can't catch the fish I'll shot'em in the face. LOL (still good eatin).
Went to Juncalito and it has so changed since 99. Still just beautiful!!!
Talked to a few of the snowbirds and the wind is driving them crazy too.
Also checked out Puerto Escondido and what an education.
Seems there are 2 different Gov't agencies seeing who can control each end of the bay.
One long timer (20 years) said his moorage has gone from $100 month (his achorage) to $200 to $500 to $1200 and now to $1900 ($3.5 foot X 65 ft) in the past year.
When we checked with the security guard at the northern boat launch/parking area he said it was $30 a day to launch/park.
The southern ramp is now gated and no access for day use.
This is "still cheaper than Cabo as they wanted $1460 for my 16 aluminum boat slip".
We have decided to head back up to Mulege area.
We have really enjoyed the week at Loreto Shores and would recommend them to all.
Will hope to get to a internet cafe in Mulege in a week or so and will let uall know wass up.
